I think Variance definitely deserved to receive first place, but almost everyone who was there was astounded at the fact that Tomatoes and Radiowires managed to place in the actual battle. I mean, of course they had good stage presence and much of the crowd consisted of their fans, but I can't possibly comprehend how anyone could've thought that they had better musicality than any of the other bands, and their vocalist is simply unlistenable.

I'm more confused about Scilter getting 2nd place. Sure, musically they were tight, but their songs lacked originality and their performance was deficient in energy and presence: they just stood there the whole time as the video can contest, and they never even addressed the audience minus one time for their cover of "Eye of the Tiger".

I Think Izzak12 Is Right... To The Credit To The Other Bands, They Are All Gutsy Enough To Enter The Battle Of The Bands But Truth Be Told, Variance Was Able To Win With A Lead Singer That Had Strep Throat... They Are Simply More Talented Then The Others...

The teen votes were averaged together to count as only one vote in the final process. We had industry officials and library staff with music backgrounds do the main part of the voting. We do this to ensure that all the voting is completely fair, and to make the show a battle of actual talent and performance, instead of a popularity contest.

Sounds to me like Stevendavis here is a bit jealous. On a different note, if a bunch of 15 year old friends, were doing all of the voting, John Gold would have won. When he played all of the "Hippie scenesters" were out there. The voting was in all way fair, talent is talent, Variance > All other 7 bands.
