Camera just happens to always change angle before he does the bit where he grabs it, he lifts the bird up in his right hand, its already cupped, the cigar he does the same then holds it hehind his left hand wen he shows you both his palms against the mirror and the handkerchief is being pulled off to the left by either another person or a piece of elastic up his sleeve. This is done using camera cuts, simple. If u notice they occur after she draws the picture of the bird and after the two girls feel for anything under his sleeves. The camera cuts away and they tell him what she drew and then cuts again for the bird to be placed in his sleeves, as its only a small bird it would easily be able to be concealed and could be trained not to move. He then moves the bird/money/cigar out into his hand for the finale. All the "randoms" are obviously in on the trick too.
