some interpretation anyone? My thought process: Cows beneath the sea can be reworded to sea cows, which is a common name for the manatee. Since manatees live at the bottom of the ocean and the song expresses John's desire to join them in 'Cowtown', he wants to go to the bottom of the ocean. How will he get there? The ridiculously savory idea of suicide comes in to play here. Yes, my dear friends, this song is about suicide.

@samhobson1 in my opinon i think that they intentionally make songs with a rediculous lyrics so that the lyrics become insignificant. im always really annoyed when people literally spend hours looking over lyrics and quoting them and stuff. why cant the music just be about the music? since when does a song need to have a message?

and thats where i think the johns are comign from with songs like this ^_^
