This is some amazing effort on your part and you've done a really good job of it to day. Silly as this might sound you might want to use a tiller. It digs in 6 to 8 inches and you can remove more that way. It's advantageous in that you can always use it in the garden should you decide to begin such a thing. Just a thought.
@Patriotsurvival The mantis tiller is great for loamy or sandy soils that are not compacted or have any degree of clay in them. I was thinking more on the line of the more robust 75# plus 4 and 8 tine rototillers. Occasionally you can rent one. I bought mine from Ace years ago and it puts a hurting on my dirt (Georgia clay) as soon as it gets under the grass.
You're still doing an outstanding job as a one man operation. I hope to see more updates when you can make them available.
Im jelous of the family in kansas that bought the nuke shelter no longer in use. 6 foot thick door, grow rooms, ground water filtration system. Must be nice to be rich.
Awesome job Patriot. I hope you complete it just like you have envisioned. I am jealous, i don't own property and am stuck living in a large city on the west coast for now. Cant wait to see the next update. Thanks for sharing.
hello patriotsurvival, youre gonna make a earthbag bunker? or with concrete? and are you far in the woods? because how you get your stuff unseen in the woods? i suppose the bunker has te be a little bit secret..for tactical reasons. cheers mate
I say keep up the great work, and don't wait for the equipment. Finnish what you started. As a matter of fact, I am going to help you with it as well. I just hope all the sceptics can see the rest of the videos and realize that this is a site for preping on a budget, not going out and buying your way through life. Good luck and I'll see ya in a little while.
I happen to be a long time friend of this man. In fact he has been my best friend since we were kids. I think that alot of you are missing his point with this bunker/ shelter or what ever you feel like calling it. If you watch the rest of his videos, the whole theme is that you can prep even if you don't have much money. I think that when he made this as his personal gaol to dig it himself, he brought back something which I haven't seen in years in this country. Good old work ethic....
Just curious about this. But have you considered that having a shelter vs a bunker are two different things ? I mean a shelter that size is practical and would be a lot easier to create rather than a bunker that size. You could still incorporate a Bunker of a lot smaller size within a shelter !
Friend . I really appreciate it Wish it was coming along faster but sometimes thing just come in their own time. Thanks for staying tuned to my project
It's looking good, bud! With or without equipment you are determined to get it done, that says alot about you (imo). The time will change soon and that should give you a little more time in the afternoons to peck at it some more. Thanks for the inspiration!
You have well grounded goals for this project. The best of luck and I'm certainly going to sub and stay tuned. You've made some pretty good progress.
The other downside to using a diesel for long term, off the grid power, is that diesel stales just like gasoline does. Typical storage is a 6 month shelf life. Under certain storage conditions you can long term store it for up to 2 years, but it degrades pretty badly. Off the grid power discussions are a colossal subject in and of themselves.
My friend, do you really want to live in a hole if the shit hits the fan? The people that built bunkers in the 50's & 60's, of which I am a child, are mostly dead now... Of old age. If it's your time; it's your time... Live your life. Love your friends and family. Enjoy your life above ground. Travel or just trek your own area. Don't worry yourself over these things. It is out of your hands. If you live to a hundred or 5 years old, time is still brief. Do not fear. Death visits us all.
@godbluffvdgg Sometimes you build shit just because you want to. I doubt he plans on living in it, its a temporary stronghold. Or an interesting property feature, but there is nothing wrong with taking on a project for the sake of the project.
If you can get more earth bags you could fill them with the dig dirt and put them up on the sides that way as you go down you go up. Barb wire will hold them in the wall pattern. Mix your sand and clay as earthen plaster over the bags. Search earth bag construction on YT.
I found your channel from a Youtube recommendation. I am very impressed with how much you have accomplished. I look forward to seeing more when you get time. Thanks for putting this out there and sharing with us.
Damn, well keep up the good work bro! People could learn a thing or two from you..Just another example of how freedom doesn't come free..In the event that you need that bunker those wheelbarrow loads will seem a whole lot lighter! Here a thought though, use a small rototiller to loosen the clay before you shovel it...it should make faster work of it!
Since the excavator keeps bailing on you, why don't you see about a local equipment rental place.. Even a mini excavator would help you tremendously in one day.. Keep up the good work!
You're one handsome stud! Pay no attention to the nay-sayers and keep up the good work.
