ideal style is to run with way like you dont run with long steps but more shorter IMO, when is a question about long trips of running. Because i think with longer steps your legs and muscles gets tired easier because the pressure is harder when your legs takes longer steps, easy to understabd.
I doubt that there has ever been a better night of Olympic athletics than Monday the 25th of September 2000. First there was Cathy Freeman and Michael Johnson in the 400's the Szabo and O'Sullivan race and then just to top it all off Gebra in the 10,000 metres. It is great to hear Bruces calls of these races, if only they had him over the pa system there instead of playing Robbia Williams and Vanessa ammarosi over and over. Still waiting for him to entertain me and it got it the first time that

there was a 6 year age difference in that O' Sullivan had 6 years more mileage on her legs, think that told in final 20m or so at line but great race by two of the most sucessfull felame athletes of 1990's
Gabriela Szabo, what a great athlete she was...i like her a little bit more than osullivan, she was very short compared to osullivan but she still managed to beat osullivan with her short strides, that's what i like about this race, a real inspiration...
They're both brilliant athletes. I like Sonia more though. I don't think Gabriela would have ran that fast at the end if Sonia hadn't pushed her to. I'd have love it if Sonia won the gold in that race. Sonia set a World Record though! That race was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@danhar2688 Disagree. If both Szabo and O'Sullivan were around today in their PRIME then they would not be far off Dibaba and Defar. Sonia's best was 14:41 but in her prime in the mid 90's she also ran 14:41. In her book she said that going into the 1995 World Final she was in the shape to run 14:30 if she needed to, but nobody could push her to have to do that and she won easily in 14:46. Remember she ran 8:21 for 3000m which translates to around 14:24 for 5000m.
@danhar2688 I think if Sonia was running today, in 2011, competing against Defar and Dibaba then she would run well under 14:30 in my opinion. Theres no doubt these 2 ethiopians would be faster runners but its not all about fast times either. Sonia was an astonishing championship runner and had an amazing kick. Unless Defar or Dibaba went out and pushed the pace to burn her off then Sonia would be there at the bell and would definetely stand a chance against them over a final lap sprint.

Really fast time back then. I think Sonia set a PB. They'd both stuggle badly today however.
