No, you take cuttings from the bottom because they contain more nitrogen and have a better chance of rooting. Plus most of us use single containers with soil and not hydro or a hybrid hydro system. Not the cleanest or most efficient room in the world, much waste of light. For rooms that size one should be getting 1-1/2 to 2 lbs a harvest, not a QP.
@MedicalCAmarijuana Wong.. 10 and 14 is the way it is supposed to be. And you do not need 18 and 6 in veg, you can use less light than that and achieve faster more productive yields. We have been misled for years.

Ive never seen a 10/14 so i don't know for sure. but in the veg cycle the more light the faster they grow, i know a grower who laves his veg room on 20 hours off 4 hours, and they grow faster than someone with a 16/8. But it really 18/6 is just the way to do it.

And anybody who has grown can look at the light schedule and see how much electric that will save. This is from greenhouse operations and mgt book. Early 80s textbook.

Your already waay far behind, many people and dispensaries are using this lighting method with unreal results and they are laughing at naysayers like you. I'm dutch and i live in amsterdam. This guy has a good grow-rep here in the city and for a non-dutch guy thats HARD to do. I wont give up his name for obvious reasons but i will say apart from his weed knowledge he's a thoroughly nice guy.
I think he keeps the light WAY too far from the plants.
Grew AK47's under a 1000w HPS and the light was always maybe 10" away from the plant tops at most.
He uses a 400w at almost two feet away.
So the plant gets a lot less lumens this way, thus less yield.
If the light is air cooled and the plants have a nice breeze produced by a boxfan, it's possible and desirable to keep the light much, much closer than he does in this vid.
@drago884 plus his harvest was TOO EARLY! I woulda gave at least 2 more weeks. only half the hairs were brown. He shouldve waited for at least 75% to turn brown. I feel the harvest wouldve been heavier have he waited.....

real organic tasting weed can only be achieved with sun light. Plants under grow lamps just seem to lack a certain something you get from sunlight grown plants.
Very usefull and i am loving my first crop.. i suggest using technaflora as your nutrients and dip your clones in carbonated water befor the cloning gel.. this will increase your success rate dramaticly; as well as look at expanding your lighting. a good rule of thumb is 60W for every 1x1 ft. ie. a 6X6ft = 2160W
P.S. Gloss white insted of foil will also help prevent your plant tips from browning but will still reflect Lumens.
if you top a lot from veg then you can fill that whole space and get a half pound. a qp from a 400w is pathetic. if you dont get at least a half pound per 400w then you are doing it wrong...
@HomeGrownGanja420 You can clone clones until the end of time. There's no need for a "mother" plant taking up space.There's no such thing either as "10th generation whateverthefuck". That's total nonsense. Every clone is an exact genetic replica of the original plant, no matter how many generations you take it out to. You can clone almost every plant, tree, bush etc. Some take just a few days to root, others may take a couple of months. Different plants require different cloning environments.

You are right about the topping, Green clipped away quiet a few budding sides in this video which is along with the far to large distance from the light, which been the reason for the poor yield back then.
Granted that you have more space in your flowering room and more space in system, can your grow additional plants off of a single grow light? How many budding plants can you have from one HPS light?
theo. you can grow in SOG style with 400W 36 plants at once on 10-11sq ft with ease. When the video was taken 10 years ago not just Green was still a noob to growing and we let them get too big before switching over to flower room, so of cause you can fit far more plants into that space. Heck, even far more into the same E&F table. And with a bigger bulb, 600-1000W you can light a larger space which can hold even more plants. Just google the therm SOG and you will see ;)

if i doubled your system can i get a pound a smokable cron. you said you get at least a QP every 2 months on four plants so at 8 plants and and doubling the equiptment in your flowering room. in that same two month time your saying i could in theory get around a half pound give or take.
