  • Lulu's version is the best, and there's another one by Lesley Gore that's not bad.--this one's OK....

  • Off and Running was originally by Lulu and was included in the movie 'To Sir With Love'

  • Australia before the multicult. Socially a better place

  • @alanbstard4 : agree wholeheartedly .. at least we were alive in those days & knew it was far better .. many who came along later will never know ...

  • I'd do her!!

  • Bit of Rave-up in the break

  • what is this song called?

  • @layersoftheonion It's called "Off and Running", which was a hit for Lesley Gore...

  • if you were not born in australia between 1950-1956 shut-up you were not in the aussie 60s

  • @spider15able : born & 54 & proud of it .. I well-remember the golden era in Aussie Rock ..

  • stunner

  • new to me..always looking 4 new to me 60s...omg has she gone now..murdered..where did she come from...dont know anything about her

  • Who wrote the song?

  • @Khultan Toni Wine & Carole Baye Sager. Interesting story about them. I believe they collabrated for 3 yrs, Toni Wine (piano prodigy) was only 17 when they started. Their big hit was A Groovy Kind of Love, recorded by the Mindbenders. Sager married Burt Bacharach! Co-writing with him she won Academy award for best song and a Grammy.

  • @guppypartz Wow, thank you : )

  • Great post...I think I watched this 10 times in a row...she was absolutely, stunningly beautiful.

  • Fantastic

    Great voice

    Beautiful girl !!!

  • love that ass;>

  • Great to see RIP Yvonne

  • The Lesley Gore version (produced by Quincy Jones) rocks a little harder than this.

  • she has some arse!!

    wah a babe!!

    deadly tune too!!

    MOD4LYF

  • Fuck off elsewhere...

  • @milkyjugs Ha ha ha....well, this is before my time, 'some arse' Ha ha ha

  • This is actually the Strangers doing all the backing on this track ...the vocals are Graeme Thompson Peter Robinson & John Farrar .... The Strangers were the resident group on this show and did the backgrounds for all the artists.

With shows like this in the 60; it was common to use whoever was available for the backgrounds as the show ran on a very limited budget ...

    Peter Robinson - The Strangers

P.S Yvonne was our dear friend and we miss her

  • Hi Peter Robinson,Billy Dale Cherokees here,Havnt seen you for years mate

    Best regards

  • this is John Robinson from the Dave Miller Set and Blackfeather.

    just a word....

i grew up in my early teens on stuff like this.

thank you all, thank you for influencing me.

without the positive effect this type of music had on me, i doubt i would have continued my career 'til now.

oh, and of course, Rob E.G.

    yvonne was lovely, beautiful face.

pity, pity, so sad - so wasted.

    John Robinson.

  • great aussie talent, the cherokees with drummer barrie windley were the best, later band changes saw the decline of this great band. yvonne barret, olivia newton-john pat carrol and lyne randall were all part of this aussie pop culture...great times.

  • I love this video, not a great song but the combination of her great looks and how it is a great reflection of the times with the song makes it a smash!

  • Words cannot express the sadness I feel over the fact that this beautiful young lady faced such a tragic end to her short life.

  • Hot lady !!

  • Lot of fun!

  • DOES ANYONE have the lyrics of this song? pleeease

  • It's called OFF AND RUNNING, it was also sung by Lesley Gore, and it was in , ya, To Sir with Love. Sung by ... I dunno ... yet somebody else, perhaps.

  • Also recorded by The Mindbenders.

  • yes, guppypartz, I thot i recognized it from "To Sir With Love" very cute!

  • Not enough room here for the lyrics, just Google:

Lesley Gore off and running lyrics

  • Wasn't this one of the songs in "To Sir With Love?"

  • yes

  • She was a BRAYBROOK girl through and through..Yvonne Barrett you rock!

  • never seen this group b4. cool li'l song,

    she's kinda hot!

    v.sad ending!

    Tre

    Liverpool Mods.

  • Hi Lee! See you everywhere Lol

  • This was never officially released on record by Yvonne, as far as I can tell, making it a very rare clip. More details about her can be found on milesago dot com, click on Artists.

  • I tried but the web page is not available .. :( could you pass me the lyrics of this song please ??

  • Found them! sorry

  • who murdered her what happind

  • Her husband was convicted of her murder

  • Pretty much a carbon copy of Leslie Gore's version, but well performed.

  • The Instrumental backing is the by the Strangers and the Vocal group is Garth Thompson, Peter Robinson, John Farrar.

The Cherokees are most likely miming as it was in those days

  • That's got to be some of the worst miming I have ever seen!

  • sucks she was murdered.

  • Beautiful girl!! and great talent!!Thanks for the memories !!

  • Thanks of loading this great post -

  • Excellent...what a tragic ending to her life.

  • Great old aussie clip - I can remember seeing this!
