Definately an interesting version. Although I prefer the original (obviously) and Bowie's version I do admire this one too as it has significantly different elements to it, like all good covers should.

You make an excellent point about covers needing to be different. Syd's Emily IS such a classic that one can understand some on this thread finding it hard to accept Judy's version. Even Roger Waters, had he recorded a version, would have had a mixed response. As you say, an interesting version by Judy ... :-)

Thank you for your feedback and analysis. I do love Judy's vocals and feel for the song. I'm inclined to agree with you about the arrangement, whilst still liking what is being attempted. Syd's view of the arrangement would have been fascinating. It has been my favourite song for forty-four years now.

Judy's version is very good! A very good reworking of this composition.

The video that goes with it is very good - a fine example of how you can use flash videos in an artistic and informative way!

It also incorporates some very nice pictures of Judy - some "classic" images I've never seen before. The later ones are nice too - time has clearly been very kind to her!
