  • Very conor oberst around method acting times..good though

  • My God, this song is convicting

  • Ya subhannallah

    hayyul Qayyum

    Subhannallahi Amma Yassifun

    Sallalah wallah Muhammad

Ya Rabbi sali alahi wa salim

  • This track is fantastic.

  • I wonder if he means lettuce die! lettuce die!

  • @ilduri Mohammed won't mean the prophet but "the praisewothy one"

  • this guy needs to get the disk and READ the lyrics

  • i love metaphors

  • this song is cool

  • I just love his scream/wail/sing in the end.

  • one of my favorite songs of all time. " but GRACE, we all know can take the place of all we owe." <3

  • Nevermind, I looked it up. The Arabic parts loosely means:

"Glory to God, to Ever Living, the All Providing

Glory to God, just as they say

May God send blessings and peace upon Muhammed

O God, may God send blessings and peace upon the Prophet"

    ...or something like that

  • Does anyone know what the part in Arabic means?

  • absolute geniuses.

  • @TheKenTerry

there different, judaism don't belive the jesus isn't messiah

Islam thought jesus was just a profit

christianity beleives the jesus is savior

but they both belive in the old testement god but there is no way tot heaven but though jusus

  • @tobi5390 Do you accept THE JESUS as you're personal lord and savior?

No, I don't believe in THE GOD, thank you very much.

  • @tobi5390 Jusus ftw XD

  • @tobi5390 Thats extremely wrong. Jesus is the Savior and Messiah of the Jews in most Islamic sects, the even expect him to return to banish the devil at the end time. Mohammed is Jesus spirit of truth who brought "the things you cannot bear to hear"

  • "the potato called from underground you got it all turned upside down!" all u arguing are potatoes lmao

p.s be it an orchard or a curling vine, the sun thats yours is the sun thats mine!

p.s.a ur arguin cause thats what religion does to ppl yes i believe theres god not a god "GOD" but our minds could never process such a thing MwY has taught me anything its gods everywhere A-b life to now is by far the best band evolution ever no b.s

  • @lacking1000 please do not post stuff like this on my videos "here's the trick.. i clicked to (censored) to download this song as an mp3."

  • Ya subhannallah

    Hayyul Qayyum

    Subhannallahi Amma Yassifun

    Sallalah wallah Muhammad (Sal.)

Ya Rabbi sali alaihi wa salim

  • all i have to say is........ the strawberry said to the tangerine

"my face is red but our hats are green"... if you don't understand that don't listen,,,

  • we well know

we're gonna reap what we sow

two lines explain exactly something we know but unconsciously purposely forget.

  • I'm surprised Tooth and Nail is still carrying these guys, considering Aaron has said that he no longer believes that you have to believe in Jesus to get into heaven.

  • @JoshuaSuperham when and where did he say that?? Thats sad... but have you heard the song "a stick, a carrot, and a string"? its Totally about Jesus. And thats off their newest album so I dont know why he would say that. Please explain where you heard that.

  • @seanturpin01 I don't remember the exact interview. Do some searching, I suppose (sorry). A Stick, A Carrot, and A String is definitely about Jesus, and Aaron is definitely still Christian. But this song is obviously about everyone's god being the same, no matter what religion you follow. I don't think it's sad at all. It means that he is open to other worldviews and interpretations of god.

  • @JoshuaSuperham

I don't know which interview you speak of, but I may propose a different meaning of the song. A meaning that does not say "all God's are the same God" (which I see as being completely false BTW [I'd be welcome to explain]), but that althought people may worship false God's and idols, we are still all under the same God. By saying that God looks through your eyes and looks through mine, they are stating that we all are under the same judgement

  • @Michaelgoround

of God no matter which God/God's we submit ourselves under, whether true or false. And that we should not condem one another, but leave condemnation to God. Also, sense God offered forgiveness to us how can we not forgive everyone else? Keep thinking man and search for truth, because it is out their. Even if it is very difficult to find.

  • @Michaelgoround

Not to argue, but the three main religions (being Judaism, Islam, and Christianity) do in fact believe in the same exact God, which is what Aaron of Mewithoutyou is getting at. Everyone has thier own path to follow but a similar way of doing it.

  • The only reason they sound even somewhat similar is because they both use "spoken word" over singing.

  • greatest band ever

  • the ending of this song owns

  • wow. i love mewithoutyou but you have to be stubbornly ignorant if you cant say this sounds like connor oberst.

  • @TremulantMannequin Well I can cause I don't know who that is ;P

  • ....

  • @TremulantMannequin Okay I checked him out. And I must be ignorant, because they don't sound alike at all.

  • @TheTrevinator what so you checked out one song and form an opinion?

  • @TremulantMannequin No I bought his Gentleman's Pact album. I mean don't get me wrong he's a really good, thoughtful songwriter and I'll definitely be checking his other albums out. I just don't really think he sounds like Mewitoutyou.

  • listen to his album "Fevers And Mirrors" and you will hear that mewithout you pretty much just ripped him off. all music is a ripp off of something else it almost cant be helped. just pointing it out. i dont really listen to conner oberst anymore. ever since i found out about Elliot Smith which is who bright eyes ripps off. its a never ending cycle

  • @TremulantMannequin I'll be sure to do that.

And I agree, all music takes its cues from other music. It happens in Indie, Rap, Rock, and even Classical music borrows from the likewise around it.

Ah well, I like it all nonetheless!

  • the strawberry said to the tangerine

my face is red but our hats our green

  • @EcentC best line

  • I think you guys are missing the main point here.. maybe you should listen to the song again.

  • I love you!

  • my gosh. among all music and songs on youtube, i would think THIS would be one people don't ARGUE over...

  • Those kinds of people argue over everything because they don't have anything better to say. o.o;

  • @StopTheMoti0n this is YOUTUBE. anything is possible. :P

  • Some people don't agree that the unmarried shouldn't undress, and many people have very good reasons to disrespect their parents

  • @StopTheMoti0n i know right....

  • Comment removed

  • People should stop trying to impose religion or refute it and just enjoy the music

  • I was convinced to comment on this incredibly pointless discussion because of the almost more incredibly stupid comment of the last poster. Black, you are suggesting by " the concept of free will" that God is not omniscient because we humans can simply decide whether or not we wish to go to hell or Heaven. God knows where we will spend eternity, therefore there is no choice You will go to Heaven or hell whether you wanted to or not. I won't read any reply to this comment if you like it or not

  • Forced love is rape.

God is not a divine rapist.

Shut your E-opinion and enjoy the music, fuck.

  • you imply that free will negates the ability of God to do or not do something. Free will does not remove any abilities from God. I know posting this is a waste of time in that you displayed your very closed minded stance on this with "I won't read any reply to this comment if you like it or not"

  • Silverbannet, alugar, dabonk, blackandwhite, you're all right. =]

    Good song, huh?

    God bless.

  • Though you won't read this, I think that was a fucking amazing response.

  • Hey you don't need to reply alright.

But other people should know that honestly, you don't know next to us what heaven is. You don't know what hell is. We don't know, and in that we're the human race.

  • this is very true. the bible talks of heaven and hell mostly metaphorically.

so really 'pearly gates' and 'roads paved of gold' were just written to appeal to what the people of biblical time considered awe-some.

    and same with 'hell'

i don;t think we should pretend to know it all. nobody does.

  • sept GOD of corse

  • actually your ideas about the bible being metaphorical did not come about till recently, you should research what the early church believed,

  • That was a Wikipedia quote regarding this band that I felt certain folks in this conversation might like to know...

  • whats the quote?

  • "The Weiss brothers are of Jewish descent and their songs explore Judeo-Christian themes. The Weiss brothers were also raised in a Sufi household—their mother had converted from the Episcopal church, and their father from Judaism. Due to the Christian themes of Aaron Weiss' lyrics, they have been categorized as a Christian band, although in interview, A. Weiss has stated he doesn't think they are a Christian band. Their lyrics reflect a personal relationship with God, and are not evangelistic.

  • for you guys saying why God created us, i think He created us so we can help people. not just in a religion way, but in any way we can.

  • Oh my Lord, these comments. Everyone has a different relationship with God, you cannot simply tell someone "your way is wrong". You also cannot tell someone what to believe, what is right for you may not be right for someone else. Some people are Christians, some people aren't. It's what works for you, and you shouldn't judge other people based on that.

  • so what you're saying is there is no absolute truth? (which is itself a statement of absolute truth)

and what happens when a key tenant of why i believe says that what you believe is wrong....?

whatever works for you works for you and what works for me works for me is so riddled with logical holes

  • All I was trying to say is let people believe whatever it is they believe if it makes them happy. It is called belief, not fact. People shouldn't criticize other people for not believing the same thing as they do. I don't understand how being kind and courteous to others is "riddled with logical holes".

  • Alkalinextrioxconz, please don't just take our word for it. You said you hadn't read the Bible; check it out for yourself - not just bits and pieces, but the whole thing. And watch God speak to you in a way you've never heard before.

  • I've read bits of in in RE when we were learning about it. I remember that it isn't what i believe. Trust me, i know some stuff about the Bible and the Christian religion. It's just not what i believe. I don't understand how that's so hard for some people to grasp and accept.

  • God's main reason for creating us is simply to prove to the universe that His way is perfect - the way of selfless love - and His hope is that each of us understands that Way, believes in it, and lives our life exemplifying that Way. That is how God is glorified and honored. He never forces us to believe in it (as some Christians try to do), and He never threatens us to believe in Him.

  • "God's main reason for creating us is simply to prove to the universe that His way is perfect" Wow, your conception of God sure is insecure.

  • perfect?

    really?

still borns, our universe on it's one to coalition, life dying around the universe instantly, our galaxy is anytime soon about to collide with the andromada galaxy, volcanoes, tsunamis , cancer, i can keep going for the sake of this not being three pages long. perfect? really?

  • His main message is this: look at God's way - the way of selfless Love - search for it, test it, understand it, and He will help you attain it. And He gives each of us the gift of choice to decide for ourselves.

  • Usedsnow, while I admire your Christian convictions (and I also believe as you do), I have a problem with hanging the threat of hell over someone's head for not believing. Jesus didn't go around threatening people that they will go to hell if they don't believe in Him - He merely stated that God is a just God and there will be consequences for sin.

  • Also, if you choose not believe in God, you're still choosing to believe, choosing to believe not to believe in God

  • anybody knows how to download this song?

  • Well first, you gotta download limewire.

  • it sucks these guys are anti-war, but then again, who isn't in entertainment. Too afraid for originality and just conform for money and popularity. Whatever -_-"

  • The last verse of this song, and the remake itself, kind of makes me not like this band quite as much. I've been looking for the orgininal version for about five years, and i found it about a week ago. But the "so may we old-fashionaly suggest the unmarried not undress" bit, and the bit about not disrespecting your parents, makes me unhappy.

  • it makes you unhappy???how old are you?? do you not understand the idea of sowing and reaping??it is a natural law, though also echoed in the bible, that people like you disregard for sake of self worship and hedonism...although your comment makes ME unhappy, i will give you the benefit of the doubt and say your words are said out of ignorance...

  • I've never read the bible and i'm not christian. Do not assume that everyone lives by the bible. I have my own morals, that i came up with all on my own! I don't need some book to tell me how to live. But don't worry, i don't worship myself. And very little ignorance.

  • Its saying don't disrespect your parents. "from each time you disrespect your parents

you better hope we don't hear it"

Basically, you better not disrespect your parents, because if we find out about it, you're in trouble. Like Karma

  • ...not Itself, and thus become, in a sense, capable of being resisted by its own handiwork, is the most astonishing and unimaginable of all the feats we attribute to the Deity (God)." What if the Bible has answers to life that you've been looking for your entire life? Just a thought for you

  • hahaha.

    your a jerk.

    look it up on youtube.

  • God wrote the Bible through man :|

  • "deity" means a god or goddess. fake is an adjective that the simple minded and the prejudiced have added to it.

    =] have a nice day.

  • I always thought that "deity" just means god or goddess. As in, "The local deity of their village is the bringer of rains." The local people wouldn't see it as a "fake" god or goddess. They'd see it as real.

  • Deity comes from the Latin word "deitas; deitatis" which itself derives from the Latin word "Deus; dei" which means "god" or capitalized "God", "deitas; deitatis" means "divinity" or "Divine Nature" :)

  • @zachy111

Deity does not imply fakery by definition.

  • It's not the book we (Christians) follow, it's the author of that book: Jesus Christ. I'm glad you've decided to live by some moral (what's right or wrong) standard in your life. But just remember that it's Jesus who GIVES you the ABILITY to decide what to believe in and how to live your life. He gives us the freedom of choice, and that's why I choose to follow Jesus. Like C. S. Lewis said: "to make things which are

  • How does Jesus give me the ability to believe? That's not what i believe. I mean sure, i believe he existed, that's history. But to say that he died to save all our souls from hell, and to say that he rose from the dead and went and did stuff, that's just kind of ridiculous to me. He's no more holy than your average person to me. It's fine that you believe differently, i accept that. I encourage that.

  • But don't go saying that Jesus is the reason for MY ability to choose what i believe. He has no part of it.

  • that's entirely fair for you to say. well, like you said, Jesus did exist and walked the earth just like you and me, and he DID perform supernatural acts which was witnessed by a large number of people. How can you (rhetorical) deny what people have witnessed and their stories that still stand superior and CORRECT over 2000 years later?

  • Jesus is the only ONE to have claim to be the SON of God and backed it up by performing miracles, e.g. resurrecting from the dead and revealing himself to eye witnesses. again, this is my worldview (answers for the most important questions about life) and by no means am i trying to push/force you to believe what i believe.

  • my hope is that one day, you'll come to know the LORD that i (and the mewithoutyou guys) serve instead of serving myself, which is obviously worthless and unworthy of serving, or serving the world which is obviously not worth serving and is clearly empty of fulfillment. the testimony and story of Jesus Christ is the most overly convincing and philosophically acceptable worldview.

  • if you have any other worldview that offers more HOPE, LOVE, GRACE, and FORGIVENESS in this world that is turning into a world that is constantly searching to please itself, please share with me so we can discuss.

  • "But don't go saying that Jesus is the reason for MY ability to choose what i believe. He has no part of it"--your statement contradicts itself. you are the only one telling me to believe something. if Jesus doesn't, than who does? who created you? where did you come? you have a conscious and a soul that not other conscious being can explain, only some form of creator MUST have created you, no?

  • Also there is this concept called free will. We choose what we want to believe. If we did not have a choice we would be like the angels in heaven or the animals of earth that follow only instinct and are souless. Our parents give birth to us therefore create us but they do not control our ultimatre decisions when we are adults.

  • at the end of the day, you know that there are people (of GREAT numbers) that believe God does exist and that if you choose not to believe in HIM (GOD), that you will perish horribly in HELL; you know of these people because I am one (often called Christians). now, as you go to sleep and wake up tomorrow and continue your life, you will always be thinking: wow, what if these Christians are right, and if they are, i might burn eternally in hell?

  • Comment removed

  • you will continue to see the need for a God in this world and in your heart. the only hope you have for not burning incessantly in HELL is the hope that God does NOT exist. how do you feel about that hope? what reasoning do you have for your hope? these are the questions you'll be thinking about for the rest of your days, i guarantee it. now if you want to read a not-so-convicting-book about why to believe in God, read Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis, it's great.

  • wow. sorry for all these long posts, i just had to get across what i was thinking. i usually never post comments...so anyways, alkalinextrioxconz, i hope you'll digest what i've told you objectively. have a good life man!

    Peace and Love!

  • Haha it's cool

And i understand what you're saying, i've been learning about all sorts of religions since i was born; I'm a UU, that's the way we do it.

    And btw, i'm a girl.

  • Yeah, Jesus didn't write the bible. Any scholar would tell you that and that is why the books of the new testament aren't labeled Jesus book one and so on. I read your notes and you are a zealous scary person who will scare people away from God with words you right. People are defensive creatures. They cannot be forced into a way of life and if they are it will not last.

  • lol You say Jesus didn't write the bible as if its a revelation or new fact to be wielded by anybody to combat the evil misconceptions of Christianity. You are right however, no matter how right something is, you can't force it on somebody.

  • "so may we old-fashionably suggest the unmarried not undress"

    yessss, you may (:

  • this album is indescribable. mewithoutyou is so exceptional is crazy. my soul goes crazy listening to every single song by them.

  • A certain part of this song sounds similar to stairway to heaven backwards. Like its hard to explain. Around 2:47. It sounds like part of stairway to heaven backwards. his voice does anyways

  • AMAZING!!!!

mwY is my all time favourite band!!! Aaron Weiss is a genius.

  • woah...this is really good

But then again it is mewithoutYou, so I kind of expected it

  • lyrics are ridiculously incredible

set up is unbelievable, but kinda lik bright eyes' song The Calendar Hung Itself, but still AMAZING song

  • bright eyes are such a great band, and so is mewithoutYou

  • Agree with both of you! that's exactly what I thought too....

  • brilliant

  • yum yum

  • holy crap....

    holy crap...

  • sick
