But actually if u use their colorstay mineral finishing powder (i use it in suntan matte) it brings back color and takes away the dull looking finish of the mineral foundation ....just a though ...
The only thing I hate about that foundation is that there aren't very many color options for women of color. It ends up being either too light or too dark, too yellowish or too organish. I love the light coverage but I have to mix it with a slightly darker foundation in order to get it to look natural. That foundation also works better in the winter/cooler months than summer because it gives you a matte finish. The ash goes away after the makeup gets a chance to set.
I use the Deep one...and what I realize is that because of the minerals it has to kind of blend with your natural oils after a minute to look nice and the longer it is on the better it looks because it blends more but when you first apply it it kinda sits there. I LOVE this now and I used it all, bought another and still love it.
I actually love this product. When I first bought it I HATED it! I thought I looked ashy and dead and after 1 use I just put it down and didnt bother. BUT for some reason I used it again one day and went about my day and like 3 people were like "Oh ur skin looks so nice" and I had to think about what I was wearing then I was like um waitt...that ashy dead stuff? I looked in the mirror later on and it looked great!
ik exactly wat u mean! i got the color in medium becouse im not that dark at all and it made me look so white! so i guess i have to go buy the drakest one haha good vid!
I FOUND THE TRICK TO MAKING THIS WORK!!! The trick is to moisturize "very well" BEFORE you apply it...and this works like magic!!! There was absolutely no powdery/chalky look WHATSOEVER! I was shocked! It was GORGEOUS!!! I also used MAC Fix Plus spray afterwards and got the same gorgeous results!!! I used Color #070 Medium Deep. Try these methods and let know if it works (:
LOL, "straight up dust" and "straight up ash," love the your descriptions, but from what I saw I totally agree but the iman powder really helped! definately enjoy your reviews. please make more, they help!!!!!
yeah, thats what sucks. I just simply don't believe in buying foundation online. I used to buy all those mineral samples when I first started out in makeup, and I just got tired of playing the guessing game. i like to see the foundation before I buy it.
Thanks for the vid. I am on a foundation journey experiment too. Trying to find the right one, I just bought the Revlon Colorstay liquid and I really like it. I would love if you could do a comparison of it with your MUFE HD or MAC. It be cool to see what drugstore fd can live up to a high end brand. Thanks!
Hey Krishna,,, I like the nails.. especially the grey ones.. cool... knew I was right about my instincts with powder foundations.. thanks for the confirmation
thanks! the gray one is that new one from MAC Hello Kitty. I can't remember the name. But I don't want you to get turned away from powders just because of this review. Powders are great (unless you have dry skin). This just happens to be a bad powder, just like there are bad liquids. That's all.
thanks! undertones are basically the underlying color of your skintone. So even though two people may be brown, one person may be more reddish brown and the other person may be more yellow or golden brown. i hope that helps. But just search for it on youtube cuz their are tons of videos explaining it.
i am going to love you forever for this series! i love colorstay liquid right now. its my fav. you think i would just stick to it since it works but you know how us makeup junkies are
cool cool, I will do the rest of them then. I got the colorstay liquid too, so I will be trying that out. I tried it once already, but I'm gonna wear it again before I give my opinion. And I know what you mean, next on my wish list: mufe mat velvet (the liquid and powder one), mac studio sculpt, becca, channel and nars I think, lol.
But actually if u use their colorstay mineral finishing powder (i use it in suntan matte) it brings back color and takes away the dull looking finish of the mineral foundation ....just a though ...

its been my experience that 9/10 "mineral" foundations look ashy on black skin. it is very annoying

"I don't know what it is, it's just straight up dust!"
ROFL...that made me laugh. Hehe
I think it looks ashy because it may be too light for you EVEN though it's the darkest...i think that sucks...=(

you should try MUFE FOUNDATIONS
FROM SEPHORA they are really good

lol, seriously!

Also...the reason why it's too dusty/ashy/chalky, is because the titanium dioxide in their makeup is too high...
sgoofi 3 years ago
yeah, thats true.
eyeXluvXmakeup 3 years ago
You should try Milan Minerals. They have mineral makeup for women of color. It's WONDERFUL. You can only get it online though.
