@TransAmFTW...if you had two cars that weighed the same and had the same HP and gearing the one that had more torque would win. Torque is king in racing because torque GETS you moving, horsepower gets it moving faster.

it comes down to who has the money and know how.... if that becomes equal it turns into power to weight. and unfortunately for smaller engines though those cars are lighter the lack of tq takes away there weight advantage and the amount of TQ FI v8+ engines make more than makes up for the extra weight.
may b faster but has a smaller gear ratio so in the end the ta has a higher top speed over the cobra so it might have it off the line but it is a close catch up 4 a ta.

Some cars can be modded more than others. My celica 95 is gonna be hard to modify whereas a honda is easy as fuck but if someone wants to put a big block V8 into their honda and supercharge or turbo it then mod the fuck out of it eventually they run out of things they can do and its gonna be as fast as it can ever go.

Automatic tranny with reverse manual valve body/3400 stall. 4:56 gears/Dana locker. She hooks hard and straight. Runs high 11's without spray too!

Im a fan of real cars, this supra was a nice car (Love the sound of the turbos) But the bigger engine will always win mod for mod. Wake up buddy, its 2007 for starters, a Trans am with 10,000 miles can be obtained for 20,000. Second of all V8 is a lot cheaper to obtain higher horsepower than V6 or I4. Plus I could buy an LS-1 the engine itself for 800$ with 20,000 mi. on it. Its the cheapest 300hp I can see.

not trying to start anything on this comment, but I guess you could consider rotary engines a replacement for displacement. 1.8l pushing out 600+whp and the 20b 3-rotor engine that can push well over 1000whp. All this when modded of course. You lose a lot of torque and swallow more gas though. Still rotary engines were banned for so long from the lemans series because they were an "unfair" advantage at the time. Now the RX-8 was in the rolex but it had a lot of restrictions on it.

I like Imports an also like Muscle alot, they both are and can b very fast and respecable so bottom line its all in what u like an prefer. . . I have a 264FWHP Civic coupe right now that I'm getting ready 2 sell so I can fund my next build, A Camaro or Trans am. . . Probably go all motor on this next 1, Its amazing.

Still muscle cars destroy Supras most of the time, especially on the dragstrip.. This one guy brought up how Supras can hold 50psi or something bt still if you wanna go that far, those supras can't beat a lotta 5-6sec cars.. I'll admit that street-legal supras can own pretty much anything if they're heavily modified. Sooo each car i guess has its own pros and cons, no? Me, personally, I'd take a muscle car over any import, simple as that =]

it comes down to who has the money and know how.... if that becomes equal it turns into power to weight. and unfortunately for smaller engines though those cars are lighter the lack of tq takes away there weight advantage and the amount of TQ FI v8+ engines make more than makes up for the extra weight.

To the guys who say money wins all...... I hope you all do realize that you can only put SO much money in a car before you run out of things to put in your car. Some cars can be modded more than others. My celica 95 is gonna be hard to modify whereas a honda is easy as fuck but if someone wants to put a big block V8 into their honda and supercharge or turbo it then mod the fuck out of it eventually they run out of things they can do and its gonna be as fast as it can ever go.

What do I have? I have an 87 GTi that I did a 2.0 16v swap. Swapped out the final drive in the tranny with one out of an A1 GTi. Decked head, aftermarket intake and exhaust cams, full stainless TT exhaust. And a 70 Nova with way too much to list. Sm block chevy stroker 490hp 510 lb/ft torque. Automatic tranny with reverse manual valve body/3400 stall. 4:56 gears/Dana locker. She hooks hard and straight. Runs high 11's without spray too!

Im a fan of real cars, this supra was a nice car (Love the sound of the turbos) But the bigger engine will always win mod for mod. Ls1 engines are the poor mans cheap horse power, wonderful engines (Love their sounds too) I dont hate ricers. I just dont see the point in wasting money on those types of cars. Same effort on a v8 will give you better reward.

Wake up buddy, its 2007 for starters, a Trans am with 10,000 miles can be obtained for 20,000. Second of all V8 is a lot cheaper to obtain higher horsepower than V6 or I4. Plus I could buy an LS-1 the engine itself for 800$ with 20,000 mi. on it. Its the cheapest 300hp I can see.

i did you know what i saw? a camaro getting a better start in the dig (which means the skyline driver was shitty), leaving almost 3 cars inbetween and the final time the skyline and the camaro finishing at the same time, round 2 skyline vs a transam guess what... skyline not only beat it but strait up SMOKED it

Skylines are nothing amazing...I mean,I agree...they are a great car, but its HUGELY overrated. They are extremely rare...because they have to be imported, usually if someone has an extra 50k to spend on a stock 6 cyl car, they will have plenty of money to upgrade...thats why most skylines rape all other cars. Not the fact its amazing, but the fact the average person who has them in a non Japan area, have the money to upgrade, and have the intention to.

not trying to start anything on this comment, but I guess you could consider rotary engines a replacement for displacement. 1.8l pushing out 600+whp and the 20b 3-rotor engine that can push well over 1000whp. All this when modded of course. You lose a lot of torque and swallow more gas though. Still rotary engines were banned for so long from the lemans series because they were an "unfair" advantage at the time. Now the RX-8 was in the rolex but it had a lot of restrictions on it.
