when the old ones created the orks did they have any idea what they were doing? they created the most succesful, adaptive, and in a way, powerful race in the galaxy. (other than the tyranids which are not native to this galaxy....)

The old ones at the time were losing a war with the necrons and c'tan, they created a warlike race, the orks, and a race with a prediposition to controlling the power of the warp (which the necrons and c'tan were weak to) in order to try and stop them. This however failed.

@caseyguitarist Indeed Only the gods of The orks where as purely dedicated War for the sake of it as there followers, The ork codex states that the four gods of chaos sometimes attack them but the two billigerent orks gods just shrug off the blows with a laugh and cast them away with a swing of mighty comet sized spiked Clubs. Its in the ork codex. Apparently the ork gods are even stronger then chaos to toss korne&company about like baseballs.

@Polydynamix Nope, they're utterly immune to the taint. I'm going by the publishings of the paper pencil rpg mostly where Ork players (Rouge Trade expansion) are immune to gaining corruption from any source. Corruption is used in the game to represent the taint of the warp.

@Polydynamix Being possessed and being tainted are a bit different though. The Daemons might have the power to intrude on an orks will but unlike humans the "energy" of the warp wouldn't mutate or twist their minds of forms.

Hell in the Ork Codex a group of Orks flies into the eye of terror and wages war on several daemon planets before finally being killed by a greater Daemon prince and his army during which they weren't tainted.

Fact: Orks are one of many races created by the Old Ones to fight the Necrons and C'tan. Eldar were another as well. Read the Army books Necrons and Lizardmen.

that would be the tyranids. though only the first vanguard of their species' war machine has entered the galactic rim, they are without end. whatever the outcome of the petty squabbles of the imperium, the orks, chaos, eldar, tau, etc. will be essentially meaningless when they are all assimilated by the plage so large it consumes galaxies.

@Haloister Actually "brainboyz" which where apparently smaller green skins with high intellect made the orks to protect them from something (we don't know exactly what). However the Orks wound up killing off the brain boyz instead of protecting them as they obviously don't do to well with respect to smaller things.

This is what explains how Orks don't "learn" through experience but instead learn through genetics (ie a Mekboy just is inherintly talented at dealing with tech, they don't learn).
