One question. Do all E90´s lack the liner that goes on the bottom of the hood? I upgraded to an E90 and when I opened the hood I noticed it lacked the insulation cover I see on this car, they told me that "it had been removed from the model in a cost cutting measure". Is it so? Is this cover I see on this car an aftermarket piece? Thank you!
@TheSRalston No, my Canadian Version has it. Most likely it was removed by someone or your E90 was in a accident and the hood was replaced. You can order the part from the dealer. Also, could be your model does not have one (different market).
While removing this to spray Lysol Anti-bacterial spray to get rid of a musty/salty smell when I turn on the AC, I noticed that after you remove the Microfilter cover, there's two ducts as shown in this video.
In the left duct, I saw another circular type filter, similar to an air intake filter which I assume is part of the air conditioner and I sprayed Lysol in there. It seems to have worked but I had to keep spraying while the car was off, and then turn the car on /w AC on MAX. :D
However, what is the right intake duct for? there were different components that looked electrical in nature and I did not spray Lysol for fear of damaging electrical components.
Thanks for the video---I just ordered the filter for $30. My dealer was charging $127.00 with labor. Once replaced, how do I reset the service in the odometer area to show this was changed?
Press the button for resetting the daycounter, and keep it pressed down. The symbol will appear. You can reset with the button on the turn signal light handle.
Thanks for this very helpful video! BMW now insists on sending everyone to the dealership even for the smallest things. Theses types of clips are really helpful for do-it-yourselfers like me. Thanks!!
Thanks for posting, I just had the Micro filter replaced and I didn't even know what or where it was. I looked at the invoice to see how much it would of been it was $130 dollars. It's a good thing It was still covered under the warranty. 330i 06

@LOLitsJono Lysol may damage some plastic or rubber parts if used in excess. I would use it only lightly

Is this where the air intake is for the air conditioner?

One more question, I need to change the microfilter....is that it? the one he showed, is that all I need to replace or should I wait for phase 2???
Investman11 10 months ago
@Investman11 The microfilter is located in the cover shown in this video. This is all you need to do to replace it.

I have the 2007 335i, is there any difference or can I just follow the same steps?

what is phase 2 anyways?
firechicken99 11 months ago
@firechicken99 Phase 2 is removing the lower housing.

@BentleyPublishers
Does that have anything to do with replacing the microfilter? Also, how often should it be changed?
