I remember when I was a kid, I thought the little boy with the toys said "Ten RHINO toys." And I didn't know what he was talking about. It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized he was saying "WIND UP"
Notice how in "10 Pins", the 2, 4, and 7 pins (numbered 8, 5, and 1 in the film) fall for no apparent reason, as the ball came nowhere near them. Anyone notice any strings?
I found on youtube that there is an original version of this...if you pause it and look very close at 1:04, through the number 10, you can see a tiny bit of what was originally there before the 10 bells....interesting find.
@bigboy0519: I posted the original version, as seen in a 1969 episode: instead of the bells, the film used to show a foosball-like toy with "10 little Indians" dressed as Wild West stereotypes. I'm guessing that Native Americans talked CTW into editing out the racist image...
my kids r stunned i knew this!!!! they think that i was never a kid... my brother and i used to copy the baker and fall down the stairs... great fun!!!! my 13 yr old thinks im a weirdo and my 9 yr old is still laughin at my baker impression... Brilliant!!!!
My mother still rags on this segment today because I used to imitate the falling baker down the steps all the time. Never got hurt, but I'm sure I scared the living be-Jesus out of my mom more that once :-)
i grew up watching this in the late 70's, early 80's. and i still think vintage Sesame Street has the best sights, sounds and art of any program ever, period. Perfection.
Contrary to what some believe, there are actually two versions of Baker Number 10. This is the 2nd version, the original featured Brian Henson saying "10 Little Indians" in the spot that's taken up by "10 Bells", you can clearly see the original clip at 1:05 as the shot is transitioning with the number 10.
@RingtailStudios Despite this being the later edited version, at least this doesn't have the newer sound FX added like other versions on YouTube have!
This was one of my favourite sesame street memories from the 70's. The boy who says 10 wind up toys is so cute. And then there's the baker who we always found so hysterical. The highlight of the show!
I remember seeing this when I was a little girl and I always wondered if that Baker hurt his arm when you fell. lol Cause he kinda holds it funny when he sits up. My youngest son has a DVD with this on there and when I seen it that's the first thing I thought of! hahaha

Spilling a whole group of desserts is not wanted when for real.
For spilling a whole group of desserts, as long as it's 100% fake, falling down the stairs is not wanted when in real life.
The best thing for America to do is to use drop zones plus "Family Feud" mushroom-style buzzers.

The "Song of One" is available here on YouTube. It's amazing that all of these Henson archives are still preserved so well.

@sashaliterry Actually, Jim Henson only provided the voice. A stuntman played the baker.

I remember seeing all of the Number Song series when I was a kid, except the One Song. I didn't even know there was a sketch for 1 until recently.

WOW! You'd think after he (the baker) learned his lesson on watching his step the first time that he would be careful the following 9 times! hahaha
