@orlisbabe The two-minute kiss actually wasn't from this scene. It was from the episode Adam, after Jack finds Ianto freaking out in the Hub and hugs him. The original script called for a passionate kiss which the director dragged out for 2 minutes for the lulz and then subsequently did not use at all in the final cut.

While Ianto is sorely missed, I do not think that will be what could potentially make miracle day bad (although it would be a million times better if Ianto were still in it :D), I think bringing it to the US and trying to appeal more to American audiences could make it bad. I'm American, and already adore the show, I don't need to see it set in my own country to like it.

I think this scene is Ianto realising how much he actually means to Jack. Because he's kind of expecting Jack to say he'd go back, and then when he says "i know you get lonely" that's him thinking that he just fills the gap for Jack as it were, but when Jack says the word "love" something clicks for Ianto. Watch his eyes, his mouth, that's why Ianto goes for the kiss. He knows that Jack loves him.
