someone can explain me why i can' t record from my turntable? the turntable enter in a 2 channel mixer, and the mixer enter in the audio interface (ux 1) ..i select my inputs from the edit/preference window in audacity but nothing appears, even on the green cursor of input...
there are only two worthy programs to use to record and clean up audio: Dak's click, pop, scratch and hiss assassin program (really easy to use and pretty cheap) and another program that has a free and paid version : TrakAX. this program is also cost little and does wonders. If you are only going to do audio, use the Dak's program. if you want to do both audio and video and much more, trak ax really is a fantastic program that I love.
@djmrnelson Thank you for your reply. Yes, I just realized that. However, I was just at the Audacity forums and there is a program that does this automatically and many Audacity users say it works just as well (it's a lot less time consuming).
Either way, I'm incredible happy about this program. I have 2000+ vinyl record collection and many of my records, I'm afraid, will never make it as noise free wavefiles to download.

@djmrnelson Found the DAK's software you were referring to. Interesting site, if its the right one I found. $19 to $25 just for the software and then another $13 for a 'plug-in?' to remove scratches and pops.
@theryaner Normalization isn't necessary. This is taken from Wikipedia, "Normalization is often used when remastering audio tapes for CD production[citation needed], in order to maximize the signal level while not changing the signal to noise ratio. It is often combined with dynamic range compression and hard limiting to increase the apparent volume of a CD. It is typically applied along with other audio and digital processing, such as dithering."
does the CS-1 cover all genres of music just as good? in the description i read it only really said dance/house and im currently looking for a new cart.
@medtechmusic Thank you. I'm happy that my tutorial has helped so many people. The newest Beta is at 1.3.11. Its a wonderful program that does take a little bit of time to get use to.
You'll have to download the latest Beta version. I used 1.3.7 when recording this. Currently for 2000/XP/Vista the version number is 1.3.10. Don't think the regular version had 'Repair'.
Very good thanks, even though I have perfect audio.

@MLBSS27 I'm sure it would be a good cartridge for any genre. The quality of sound was much more superior to the original cartridge provided.
