Immediately after independence Gandhi fearing family politics, asked Nehru to dissolve the congress, there came out Nehru's true colours again. I personally believe there are no equals to the mahatma in terms of humanitarian values. But he was more of a spiritual leader than a politician. The thing that worried me the most is that M.Gandhi was quite a good judge of character, then why wasnt he able to see thru Nehru.
I would rate Nehru 'downtrodden' in terms on statesmanship in comparison with Sardar. Selfish, powermonging , unfit to lead even a state of India leave alone the country. It was a fact that 'Sardar' won 13 on the 16 votes for Congress president and was more than eligible to become the first prime minister.
