The majesty of the Big Bang, the brilliance of an evolving cosmos and the elegance of the chemical configuration of matter affirms to me that there is a God and the nature of God is embodied in the order of the universe.
The beautful irony about the discovery of what makes the atoms is the smallest particles were discovered first, the electron was discovered before the proton and the proton was discovered before the nuetron wich is slightly bigger. Science is a complicated process.
epic, great documentary. The best and most interesting documentary on the Periodic Tables of Elements ever. Don't stop making these documentaries BBC!
@777wallaby777 Tout à fait d'accord avec vous; ce genre de série est fascinante et instructive. J'aimerais que de telles émissions soient diffusées dans des écoles.
what is this? a documentary that doesnt say that aliens told the egyptians everything about chemistry but their ancient knowledge was lost?? i must be too used to history channel documentaries
I'm confused, he says there are definately only 92 elements but we have already found more than that and scientists think there are still more to find?
nobody makes documentaries like the BBC - perhaps if they didn't waste millions of pounds sending soccer "experts" on salaried holidays to Africa (first class travel, 5 star hotels, haute cuisine etc) they could afford to make some more
Wonderful. When watching this I thought of how exciting a time it must of been to live through....scientifically speaking, the 19th and 20th century I mean....but then again with the LHC and such it looks like we could be luckier than the lot....something exceptional's gonna happen soon I think! =]
People want to learn, there is no doubt about it. As long as you put things in layman terms and explain them with visible obvious experiments, people will understand and enjoy. Sadly American scientific shows do not take there audience seriously. They narrate their shows both with a voice and a theme of a an action movie trailer. Almost any scientific show on the history channel is a great example of this.
@myrmecophilous : In comparison to BBC, this applies to german television either. So sad. Stupid people require stupid programs. And stupid programs will stupidify the people. So only GB is in an upward spiral, wheres we get down. :-(

emmalicious2609 1 year ago
@emmalicious2609 actually, these are the 92 naturally occurring elements. Atoms with more than 92 protons are only made up in laboratories...
check out a documentary called "island of stability", from PBS Nova...it´s about building new elements...
