@tjmick1992 wow, i like how you say that they are the best in wisconsin. well, i have never been to wisconsin to see their music programs, but i know that it is not the best. if they were, you wouldnt be on youtube, you would be practicing solos, excerpts, and music for festivals. my school has a symphony orchestra and a symphonic band. I am in both serving principal bass trombone and I KNOW we arent the best in michigan. Although, we had 2 commissioned pieces and were directed by Slatkin.

This is the correct speed. Listen to leonard bernstein conducting this (there was a video on youtube but it's been taken down) and it's pretty much this speed, If a *little bit* slower. This is a job well done!!!! Amazing that they're all in high school. My high school band wasn't a 10th of what they are!!!!!

Good stuff. I might be mistaken, but this is a piece of music that young classical players who've had exposure to rock can probably play better than players who have played nothing but the classical repertoire their whole lives. (But is there a single musician left alive who has never played anything that isn't part of the classical canon? Yeah, probably, alas.)

The underlying pulse of this whole piece is far closer to rock than it is to more "serious" music.

It is amazing to see so many talented musicians!

Our school's Strings program is really young. And even though our school's musical was West Side Story this year, there were only 4 violins, 1 cello, and 2 basses in the string section of the pit. This many students being able to play Bernstein's score just blows my mind. Great job!

Our band played this but it was a wind band. i play the trumpet and i can honistly say this is the hardest ensamble peace i have ever Played and i feel realy sorry for the precution (spelling) must of been a work out for them!
