But why is Bert still upset when Ernie, at the end, gives him an unflavored soda drink? Bert should be happy that after all that Ernie put him through, Bert's still going to get a drink exactly the way he likes it.

He's upset that Ernie put him through all of that frustration for a pursuit that was essentially fruitless. Throughous the sketch Ernie makes changes to the soda, trying to improve it, and ignoring Bert's protests. By the end, Bert ends up with exactly the same thing as they started out with, meaning that the entire journey was unneccessary

I thought Bert was a grouch and then I realized he was frustrated how Ernie was enjoying himself; Ernie was not intentionally trying to upset him, he was enjoying life and the way he enjoyed his life got Bert upset; they knew the other was loving life and that was there motivation in what they enjoyed, they relished there not being alike, which is what Sesame Street is about. I would have like the syrup to be chocolate instead and more of the whip cream on top, yummy!!!
