@93GTP KB's will work in a compound setup, but the KB blower already makes so much boost that its not always the ideal head unit to use unless you have a big set of turbos to compliment it, and you intend to make MASSIVE power.
I'm not really familiar with compound boost systems, but why are you only revving to 5300ish rpms? Seems to me that power would be more effective long range?
..about 650 horse so I would need a pretty conservative tune but thats only until I get or make a new motor, I got a shorblock from sean hyland motorsports for my car that they say is only rated for 600 horse but they assure me I can go past that somewhat, they also have a 1000 horse shortblock and i believe a 1200 horse shortblock, I shuld have gotten the 1000 horse shortblock, Im gona start lookin into the hellion twin turbo kit, everybody asks me y not the kb or whipple, I say compound boost
In the end of the video it said 900 horse at 25 psi, that means that the turbos were makin 25psi right thats no combine boost between the supercharger and the turbos right? You said the factory supercharger so thats prolly making 10 psi and im guessing you have the turbos set at 25 psi. I just supercharged my 01 cobra with an eaton supercharger, I have an aluminum block with all forged internals obviously its not the factory motor but I plan on doing this twin turbo setup but I only wanna make..
hey to whomever wondered what supercharging and turbo is both in working order together is called compound boosting hey craig i have been told that it makes more efficient power to use just the turbos is this true or not?
twin charged refers to supercharged/turbo combo. Compound boost is specific to twin turbochargers combined with the supercharger. There were many mr2's that ran twin charging in the mid 90's
@ikaikaboy88 Commonly, but not always, you do get more top end power with turbos alone but at the price of less low rev torque = less useful on the street reducing low rev acceleration because of the narrower torque band. Does that answer your question.
The supercharger is a stock m112, the turbos are 60mm turbonetics, stock engine internals... Fuel delivery system is upgraded very heavily... This car was subbed by hellion systems as the "manhattan project" check it out on muscle mustangs/ fast fords... One or the other I reckon
Cant wait till i can get back state side to get me a cobra just like this with the twin turbos, I seriously look at your guys web site everyday in anticapation to buying this amazing work of art from you guys lol!!!! Love everything you guys do and keep it up!!! O yea and everyone surrport our troups out there, just like me lol!!!
Yowww. 914 HP and it's streetable....talk about your ultimate sleeper...( well..as much as a bright red Cobra can can be considered a sleeper ) I mean..ya kinda expect a Cobra to run good but how many people would suspect this things pumpin out nearly a 1000 HP...excellent job guys!!
@forged420a The 03-04 Cobras come fully forged but even these power levels are too high for it's "stock" block as you call it. H-beams, Manley pistons, forged crank. You're gonna need CP pistons and billet I-beams to run this power safely along with a whole slew of fuel system upgrades and suspension/rear end upgrades. This is some serious power. You'll have some say it's safe, we see bent H-beams come into the shop on a regular basis...they sure dont look "safe" folded in half...
@helloman1976 So how horsepower can I run safely on my motor without risking detonation??? I am either going to get this kit, or the Mammoth, and well I need some more info on this kit.
@forged420a With a forged crank, H-beams and manley pistons you can run about 800BHP very safely. With an aluminum drive shaft you get about a 22% drop from HP at the flywheel threw a manual transmission. So that's about 625rwhp-650rwhp. The H-beams will be your weak link here and they are rated at 850BHP, h-beams are not designed to rev real high either, so about 7,000rpm maximum. If you want more than 850BHP you need to go billet I-beam and CP pistons.
@helloman1976 What is 800BHP but in rear wheel horsepower?? My goals were to get as close to 800rwhp with the "stock" motor. Do you think that is possible??
@forged420a 800BHP through a manual tranny, like the 6060 or 3650, and aluminum drive shaft would be 625HP at the wheels. You CAN do 800rwhp on a Cobra motor but not safely so it would all boil down to how you drive it at that point. The rods are rated for 850BHP so the most you should put at the wheels is 650rwhp max. There will be many people who tell you it will work. It WILL work, just for how long and the harder you drive it the shorter it'll last. We see blown 03-04 Cobra motors daily.
question, is the 25lbs of boost compound from both the supercharger and turbo or just 25 lbs from the turbo and what ever the supercharger is boosted at?
Believe it or not FORD has a great combination The engine can take a 1,000hp. The Transmission is a Tremec t-56 strong by itself. That trans is use in a the BIG THREE cars, the VETTE, CAMARO, VIPER, CHALLENGER, AND the Mustang was the first to uses it!
It was actually the viper, then the f body and vette. I'm pretty sure that the 03-04 cobras are the only fords to ever get a t56. Gotta love those forged iron block 4v's!!!!!
Yes. It definitely would since Kenne Bells are twin screw which compress air in between the lobes the screws unlike a "roots" style blowers that pumps air into motor. Hence, turbos build enough heat, so why would you want more when that is your motor's worst enemy especially with twin screw that really cannot tolerate heat at all.
It's called "compound boost" they've made over 1100 hp at the wheels on Cobras with this combination. You need an IRS brace, Level 5 axle upgrade from the Driveshaft Shop, they have a web site or switch the rear for a built 8.8 live axle, and you need a heavy duty 26 spline input shaft put in the T56 trans with a Spec stage 3+ or spec twin disc clutch with 26 splines. Subframe connectors would be a plus and drag radials or slicks. If you hook up there won't be many cars you can't outrun.
Not worth the money the stock s/c is just fine since they are only running it at low boost prob like 5-7psi they are pretty efficient at lower levels, the turbos are making the big boost here, and thats the point of theese systems have instant low end and big top end, so no turbo lag and without all the power loss of a s/c making high boost,
that would be so sick as a daily driver, maybe someday. would there be no way to make the superchrger the primary (a whipple 4.0) then add a small turbo? or would that just do the same as adding a turbo setup to the stock eaton?
A. they dont have a 4.0 whipple for the cobra's yet. B. Kenne Bell themselves said that the seals will not hold the pressure, a twin screw operates differently than a roots supercharger because it compresses air in the case, not the manifold. A few people tried it, it failed and Kenne Bell couldn't do anything for them, so they went with a ported eaton. The goal of this kit is more midrange hp and tq, set up right, it will dominate a TT cobra.
Think of it like this, a TT cobra may make 900 hp but 500 tq at 3000 rpms, a compound boost cobra will make say 800 hp peak, but a much flatter powerband making close to 700 tq from 3000 rpms on. I'm just using these numbers to give you an idea of the concept.
basically the twin turbos blow into through the intercooler as usual and then straight into the intake of the supercharger..... thats the most simple explanation
Oh man, I forgot about how awesome this vid is! Thanks for commenting back craig. I have your number and will be giving you a call once I have some money saved up for this kit! I've heard nothing but good things about your company and turbo systems from fellow cobra owners. and btw 914 hp and 921 lb. ft is not bad for a daily driver! Awesome car. Can't wait to get my kit! :)
It's too much to explain here, but no the supercharger is always functioning. Call and ask for Craig @ 505-873-4670 and I will explain it all to you if you want.
We plan on testing the kit with different engines (such as Ford Racing's Aluminator) as well as different, larger superchargers and bigger turbos. Keep an eye out.
your a fucking idiot...top speed isnt limited to power noob dick...he'll run out of gears before anything....that car isnt made for top speed...its for the drag strip...0-60 time? haha like anyone with a modded car gives a shit...it goes down the track in low 9 sec passes... so take your car pamphlet reading ass to some other video ass!
Thats some awesome engineering in figuring out to make that setup work well. I can only imagine how the ride would be and not to mention the sound your gonna get from the twins and the blower. Great job guys and keep up the good work, and the championships. :)
The car is 100% stock. All we did was O-ring the block to seal the cylinders better, other than that it's totally legitimately stock. lying about that would do us no good, it's not like we are selling the kits to people that don't know anything about the cars, they would notice if something was up.
Nothing. the engine itself is totally stock. We O-ringed the block to get a better cylinder seal at the high boost levels, but the internals, the block, the heads, and the blower/intake are all stock.
This was just to show what a stock Cobra could do with one of our kits. The car has already made about 1,390 flywheel HP. It will make 1,600 with a built motor, bigger blower, and the 66mm turbos, or a built motor with no supercharger and the 76mm turbos.
Thanks. Hellion built the kit, not me personally. It's a complete kit, available for sale to anyone. I work there, but did not actually build the kit myself.
my question is if i have a kb will this still work with it

The car is 100% stock. All we did was O-ring the block to seal the cylinders better, other than that it's totally legitimately stock. lying about that would do us no good, it's not like we are selling the kits to people that don't know anything about the cars, they would notice if something was up.

Nothing. the engine itself is totally stock. We O-ringed the block to get a better cylinder seal at the high boost levels, but the internals, the block, the heads, and the blower/intake are all stock.

Um, how do you suppose you're going to get 1600HP. This dimension has it's limits ya know.

We aren't trying to get 1,600 hp with this car.

I work there, but did not actually build the kit myself.

all i know is that it doesn't work with a twin screw supercharger, only the stock roots style eaton.

Yikes... I thought I was in the big boys club w/ a 19psi Whipple and 600+rwhp. Very cool to see a turbo/supercharger combo.
