  • I'm a little perplexed by their website. The site now says each bay can hold in a 3.5 " SATA hard drive of Max capacity 2T. However the total max capacity is 4T? Shouldn't it be 8T?

  • I thinking about this, however, can I setup two drives as raid 1 and the other two drives as raid 1 so they both appear as two seperate disks? One used for data storage and the other used as a backup drive for all pcs in the house.

  • @JamieJWSmith,

Yes... the RAID configuration is fully configurable.

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • i have same latop, gateway fx, plays all games on max settings, its great

  • thanks!

  • i do hate the external power brick as well.

i do not find the menus complex, but i am very unhappy with the functioning of the device. i also do not mind the box itself, it is nice to have a lcd screen, but being able to ssh to the box or manage it via the web is good.

  • on other thing is the surveillance software is limited to only 2 video cameras, and is very glitchy.

  • Another thing is that the expansion/migration procedure is not really very robust. i lost my filesystem in a serial upgrade procedure.

i like being able to ssh to the device, but this needs work.

  • i just bought one of these.

i am unhappy with the performance and

support, but it is reasonable price,

    and very versatile.

the problem is that the software is

    really glitchy.

support if very poor, extremely poor.

i hope they get better. the mysql and

web services and other options they have

    is very cool.

  • i don't really get what's your problem. qnap support is fantastic (check the forum!) and besides that most stuff is working very fine, qnap releases almost every month a new firmware with enhancements and fixes as requested by the community.

  • no qnap support is not fantastic. it took them 2 weeks to NOT figure out how to nfs mount a share to my mac ... I had to figure it out myself. You have to use the mount -o resvport option, and no one knew that, and on top of it I got all kinds of wrong answers including one support person who said that NFS was not supported on my box.

QNAP is on top of it with fixes, but what could be a fantastic world class company is full of mediocrity and bad support personnel.

  • Everything sounded great, until i saw the prize :S

  • great as always thx

  • Thanks for the info.

  • looks koo but i don't need that much memory... lol

  • Now I want a TS-409. :D

  • Such an amazing review, this is so much better than CNET video reviews.

  • Looks neat, thanks!
