  • I have 6 dogs they r my life...

  • Im 11 and i love animals, always have since i was 2 and always will.I wanted to be a vet since i was 5,and i really want to be one.Can anyone help me out with anything about being a vet?

  • I have always wanted to be a vet since I was 3 and still havnt changed my mind. People dont beleive me when I say that but I actually did lol :D

  • @honeybear002 Go for it! Watch the other videos and let us know if they help.

  • @honeybear002 I doubt it......It's odd for a child to want to cut up animals and even know what a vet is...at that age...I personally just think you keep saying this so you sound like you should become one.

  • i love helping animals but when they're crying its brakes my heart

  • i am i n middle school and i wont to be a vet.........

  • I want to be a vet and not for the money (the average vet income is only $70,000 anyways). I love genuinely animals and want to help them. Always have, always will.

  • @ohgoodjoy you know $70,000 is a lot of money to make every year right? That is considered a high paying job. I think you might mean for the amount of schooling they put in compared to other jobs with the same amount of college experience veterinarians aren't payed as much.

  • @TheSouthpaw1993 Thanks for informing me. I think it's partially because I live in an area with a high cost of living so my perception of a little and a lot is horribly skewed.

  • well would you rather your vet not test and end up misdiagnosing your dogs? Vets have to test properly otherwise they risk harming the animals. And vets don't over vaccinate, they vaccinate dogs for diseases they need to be vaccinated for. If you don't like it don't go, you don't have to take your dogs to the vet but its better for them if you do. The vet that I do work experience for purposely tries to make it cheaper for all the clients he sees, sometimes not even charging for consultations.

  • the vet that screwed me was not my own vet. He was unavailable at the time. There are a lot of people who vaccinate or treat their own dogs. We don't spend a lot of money on our dogs and they look great. If one of my dogs has something seriously wrong with it, it is going to be put down. You got to be more specific about what you mean by 'misdiagnosing'? How about that ivermectin for dogs? It is produced in large quantities for horses, cattle and swine at a fraction of the cost. Why not dogs?

  • Ok, it's corporate america, a crisis of profligacy. I get it.... Sorry, I guess I have a terrible attitude. I did go to college. And I've been avoiding my vet. He enjoys my dogs very much, and I think he understands. I know he's got to pay the bills, but don't we all?

  • @vardamin Okay, sorry for being so aggressive. :D -hug-

  • I'd like to know where you get your facts, vardamin. 500% is pretty insane markup unless you live on the coasts. East coast for you? you said your dogs had Lyme. What training have you had in the field of vet med disease and testing of such? You obviously know more than veterinarians about when and what to test for. I'd really like to know where you went to school vardamin. Must be a magical place filled with misinformed people with conspiracy theories. If vet's wanted money, they'd be MDs.

  • @TurboRod2000 they are

  • Do any of you have any idea how much it costs to replace surgical equipement? or the fact that they have to pay all the staff and they don't get help from the government

    (this is true in Australia)

If u go to the american vet ass website u will actually find a list of recommended vaccinations that all dogs should have (rabies) and how often should have them the vet science world is still developing

  • the cost thing is probably more an australian thing i don't know what it is like in america

the starting salary in america is 60-70 thousand

were in australia it is more like 32 thousand (one of the lowest paid professions in australia)

  • Spoken like a real loser. Only a coward talks tough on the internet. Unlike human medicine, no costs are subsidized by insurance. Hence, the expense. Vets perform diagnostic tests because their patients can not talk. You can always decline tests or treatment. That is always your choice. Now, that is not to say that there are no bad apples in the veterinary profession. There are crooks in any profession. But, over generalizing only makes you look like an idiot. So, think before you speak.

  • Vets over test, heart worm etc... all to increase there bottom line. Here's a good story. I was mountain biking with a dog. She was in great shape. The vet told me she was a little "ribby" and that I could feed her more. 6 months later, the vet was telling me I could feed her less. If your dog ain't obese, vets think they have a problem. It's America!

  • Do you not understand they are only trying to help your animal. Stop worrying about money & start think about more important things in life. I am currently attending college to become a Vet, Your comment is single minded.. So the next time you want to speak your mind please do us all a favor and don't.

  • If my comments are so "single minded", why are you responding to them? Are you "single minded" too?

  • he says vetinarian. its a veterinarian.

  • Thats just the veteranarians you went to, i plan to become a veterinarian when i get older.

  • No it's not. Vets are notorious for over testing and over vacinating. And their mark up on meds is astronomical. I don't go to them anymore, and I don't over feed my dogs like 90% of americans. So many people in this country have the type of love that mains, and vets are going to the bank on them. Feed your animal less, they need not be obese like 38 % of the people in the US.

  • spoken like a "pure ignorant idiot".

  • I happen to agree with vardamin. You're good a name calling, but can you back it up? Who's the "pure ignorant idiot"?

  • that is totally like me but i decided when i was 2. Even his initials are the same as mine. J.T.

  • i realy want to be a vet. My AS results come out in like 3 weeks and i am really worried that i wont cut it. Just feels better to write this down.

  • So how did you do?

    are you in?

  • ok he put those to together nd he did veterinarian wat about interests for animals nd psychology anyone knows about that can plz reply 2 me wit a source

  • I want to be a vet because a love animals my dog is by me right now!

  • You'll need a less generic response in your interview...

  • I so want to get into UC Davis too

  • what grades do you need to get into a school like uc davis to become a vet?

  • u need A,B. no c

  • sounds interesting

  • Wow, I would never enter vet school after watching this undecided man talk about it.

He seems ambivalent to his own profession.
