i believe you do gain quite a bit of power from the y-pipe/catback. i have the same mods you have on my 98, and i also got it tuned (apexi S-afcII), and i'm puttin down 198whp, and 204wtq. ive since blown the motor and in the process of droppin in the 3.5.

One other thing, my car is a 95 max and it's a 5-spd i have simple mods- HAI intake, y pipe, stillen muffler, but i'm wondering to anyone who said you gain 20 hp from the y pipe are you sure on this? i'm not saying whp either just hp. that's a lot more power than you'd think. i could tell a big difference after the y pipe but i wish a dyno could prove 20 hp gains for sure

o my fucking god please shut the hell up about transmissions. if you've been to a drag and it's an nhra race you know the transmissions are programmed to shift at optimal times and so of course they're technically automatic. it'll be the day when you see someone race with a 5-spd. On the other topic a 2000 max with a 3.0 is slow as shit i raced a few with my 4th gen and smoked each one. the 5th gens with the 3.5s are the kings of maximas.

Who cares. Have you ever been to the drags? All of the fast cars run auto. only problem is they lose a little bit more power than a 5 speed. but it makes up for it in shifting.

unfortunately on the maxima's, its only a 4spd auto......i use to own a auto 99 too, i have a 99 5spd now...the autos run 16's or high 15's with a good launch, and the manual ones run 14.8-15.1 depending on driver and faster due to the extra gear......i agree SOME cars that are auto are faster then the manual versions...but not in the maxima's case....i have two friends on twin turbo supras, and the auto kills the stick one from the line till the end....anyway...take care.

Dumb comment.. My car ran 15.4 according to the power programer, And it was stock auto. And no way a 5 speed runs 14.8 lmfao. Thats like what the de-k runs lol. I've ran vs a 5 spd max same year and beat it.. -_-

YOUR THE ONE WITH THE DUMB COMMENT. i have ran both of the cars, i run a high 14 on my car, and im 250 lbs! check some of my vids if you dont believe me, and no a de-k is faster becuase it has a vi.....but the 2000+ maxima's w the 3.0 are heavier. Maybe you ran a stock one.....with a few basic bolt ons the car is quick....a y pipe adds 20 hp by itself....think and make sure you know what your talking about before you make comments buddy.

K keep thinking that. maybe to the crank x_X maybe. 2k maxima owns 4th gens. I raced my friends ae maxima with all the options fully loaded weighs about 300 more pounds than my car and he killed me. the dek owns the stock 3.0 all day.

like i said in other posts buddy, IF its a STOCK VS STOCK then of course the de-k will have the lead, but i mentioned numerous times that mine isn't stock, and i can take them out.... this also started about you trying to say that a auto maxima is faster then a manual one

I agree with you, 14.8 for a 5speed max with BASIC boltons, intake exhaust isnt that far fetched.. ANd yeah the 4th gens are alot lighter and 00vi swap on them and they're just plain fast.. YOu know what your talking about ct0386, but i dont agree with you way of putting it.. and i do think your a little ignorant. Just my opinion...

auto + boost is the way to go... it's faster because you dont lose boost every time you shift, like in a 5speed...
