Hey I Really appreciate this video it really helped by i still have a problem. the sound skips, and it also seems as if the frames skip as well even when its on 0, and usually the percentage on my vba is always at around 100 but now it just goes to 70 and below what shud i do???
@kad3t The last update i made was switching to ubuntu and i actually dont know and i really dont kno how to check. im kinda new to ubuntu and i was told ubuntu linux was the best so i just updated thinking that it was going to be the same as windows just a little more safer
Ubuntu is very user-friendly, especially if someone just switched. I moved both of my parents to Ubuntu and they have no issues with it in their day to day usage, though I hardly would call them power users, LOL! ^_^ Anyway, somewhere in your System Tools menu there should be System Profiler & Benchmark (aka System Information), run it and highlight the Summary tab, your GPU will be listed there.
@kad3t srry for answering so late, but I can't find it at all im srry if im being a bother but yea i checked system tools and all i get is bleachbit, GTK-Theme, and oracle vm virtual box :P
That's not what you're supposed to check but no worries. Open your terminal and type in "hardinfo" with no quotemarks it should open a new graphical window with all the informations that can proove helpful here. ^_^
@kad3t Alright i got the summary and everything but i dont kno where to check im guessing its in computer so im just gnna say wat i see and hope it helps
Processor - 2x Genuine Intel(R) CPU - T2060 @ 1.60GHz
Weird, there should be something about your graphics card. Tell you what, let's do it differently. Go into All Applications - Administration (I'm sorry if I'm slightly wrong but I don't use Ubuntu) and seek for Restricted Drivers or Non-Free Drivers or Propriatary Drivers or Additional Drivers. One of those. Click it and see if there's any to install.
@kad3t okay i checked and there is one driver that is not installed (or activated) should i install it now and just incase you need to know what is there is two one is activated one is disabled
the activated one is - Broadcom B43 Wireless Driver
The deactivated one is - Broadcom STA Wireless Driver
Oh, no... I mean you can and it may improve your wireless if it's recommended otherwise just leave it. I believe that the issue you're having may be due to your graphics card. Isn't it a built in Intel card on your laptop? Though you could possibly get a workaround at Ubuntu forums, honestly the best place to get ubuntu support. If you google it it should be first result. I'm sorry I couldn't help you here...
Visualboyadvance is great and all... But I'm goin with chibiwolf here, there r no cheats 4 it, and I reaally need them. But I'm fine by playing the game by the rules, It'l just b hard..
I understand but I was not the one who created the software/emulator. I'm afraid I can't do anything about that. The how to video was only supposed to show how to run an emulated game... I'm sorry.
The linux version of this Emulator is garbage. The save slots never work, the hotkeys for quick save/load wont work, sound skips, all graphics plug ins fail, reducing frameskips still makes my game warp at 9001 mph, major lag, ect. I can go on for ever. My computer isn't shit, either. Radeon HD 4670, Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card, 4GB of RAM, 3.2Ghz processor, running Ubuntu 10.04. Small things like this make me miss windows.
Well, I have not had such terrible issues with it even though my PC is less powerful than yours. The issues may be with a graphic card, I'm afraid as Radeons unfortunately are not as well supported as GeForce cards are. What you could do, however is try to:
Hmm... I suppose you either had only one partition or run through installator without a proper read of all on screen informations as installer itself when it runs gparted leaves you with two options and first of which (the default) one is the one that "takes over" the whole HD.
I have no more ideas really apart maybe from visiting devs website and seeking a sollution on their forums or newer updated version of emulator. There's also ubuntuforums . org (no spaces) too. Very helpful

I hate this version. Although i have set frameskip to 0 my games run at about 150% all the time. And the space throttle just isnt fast enough and feels very choppy. Also it doesnt have a cheat function.
The windows version is so much better but unfortunately wine wont run it.
May I ask who is a manufacturer of your graphic card chip? It sort of sound as if it was ATI. There were some serious issues with decent ATI drivers for Linux some time ago, and since I am not an ATI user no more I have no clue if they still persist but it sound like it may be the reason for your issues.
Weird... Hmm... Maybe try going to VBA website and asking in their forums. I've heard that people there are quite helpful. It may just be a repo version issue or something minor easily correctable.
Right... Google Ultimate Edition (it's linux distribution but don't worry), then when you get to their homepage, somewhere on the right there will be a link to repositories. Add their repo, reload your repos and it will be available in your Synaptics Package Manager from then on.
@kad3t mm ., do u have any links ??? thats because im new to linux actually and i didnt understand ANYTHING from ya exept the synaptic.........well yes im sorta noob.
WineHQ site is always a good place to go when something Windows based just don't work. There's bound to be there someone with same issue and sollution.
OK dude thank you very much, you helped me better then those who just give links to emulators but you helped my find a better one. I installed everything n changed the frameskip to "0". i also know a site to download ROMs called coolromDOTcom. and im wondering if its a good place to download gameboy games to Ubuntu. I have already downloaded games to the ZSNES emulator but just want to make sure if its a right site for gameboy games
It's good but at p l a n e t e m u . n e t (or . c o m - no space) there's ALL games not just some of them available, so make sure you do check it out as well.
I tried this a few times it doesn't work. It also just says 2 new packs will be installed and 0 GB have to be downloaded. I have Ubuntu and did the same thing you did. Can you help me?
Thanks! That was the main target for it, to be informative and easy to follow as my microphone was not operational back then. If you liked it check my other emulation under linux videos! ^__^
okay so i'm a totaly linux n00b and im booting Ubuntu 9.04 off the CD. problem is, i cant seem to find my wireless network on there so theres no internet... any way i can download whatever needs to be downloaded on to my hard drive while on XP then access it in ubuntu and install it? im already an avid emulator already with VBA so i just wanna have something farmiliar with me on my ubuntu
Thanks, man. It was really helpful. Now all i have to do is get a rom that actually works... cuz i tried downloading pkmn emerald, but it doesn't work... all there is a blank screen.
I use gngb because I could never get the frameskip right. (yes I did put it at zero) It doesn't have a gui so you have to use the terminal but it works well (except no GBA emulation).
If nothing else works for you you may wanna try using windows versions of GBA emulators through Wine on your Linux. I've posted a video on solving Wine issues some time ago so if you look it up I belive you'll find some useful website addresses there to hel you with that. ^__^
If it was helpful you may wanna consider subscribing though I'm not going to try to convince you any more than by saying that I covered some other emulators already & will cover some more in the future. ^__^
how do you fix the choppy sound?
Lolma0Hax0r 4 days ago
VBAM is much better since all my GBA games run glitchy and all my GB/GBC games run too fast. You can get VBAM in the playdeb repo.

Ubuntu? 10.10 pr 10.04? You may wanna switch from Pulse audio to another driver, Ubuntu Forums will explain how to do it easily.

@kad3t I'm running 10.10 I'll look to see what I have to do on the forums thanks.
