Nice Concept. It always amazes me that we focus more on the outside of Multi-Touch Mac designs than the Operating System. A true Multi-Touch control system would be such a paradigm shift in control. But with that control there is a great deal of complexity. There has to be a very adaptive and scalable user-interface system setup to provide that control in an intuitive and easy to use way. I have 12in HP version to that... Pretty cool and ran me only 1100 bucks... But if mac ever comes out with a tablet smaller, about 8-10in, i'll be jumping on the mac band wagon... This is just too heavy...

Not really. The Lisa, and Mac, were heavily inspired by PARC's work; Xerox was given Apple stock in exchange for engineer visits and an understanding that Apple would create a GUI product. Apple was inspired by PARC, but significantly enhanced the GUI idea. Xerox used a text based file browser, called 'executive' (no drag and drop icon file copy etc), more like MSDOS Executive in Windows 1.0 Xerox had no trash can. However most significant is that the Xerox system had NO pull down menus.

Further, Xerox had no dialog boxes, eg "Do you want to save the changes in Untitled.txt" it didn't do that, the OS had no checkboxes / radio buttons for settings, and there was no such thing as a greyed out option, it would simply produce and error if you selected an incorrect option. Apple decided to make irrelevant options 'greyed out' to avoid accidental selection. Get some emulators: play with the Xerox, play with the Lisa / Mac and see which works more like Win95. (Win95 was great btw)
