  • Its very simple looks but very difficult making in starting. But the way she is teaching everyone. Even a small boy/girl can can make the carpet this way.

realy I salute to this lady. May God give her Health and wealth so that she can go on for ever. Pankaj Dewan (Exporter of Rugs and Carpets from India) info@vishwakarmaimpex.in (0091-9254213614)

  • Thank you for a beautiful and descriptive guide to the art of rya rug making. We can source rya rug canvas in Europe - which hopefully allows a rug to be made to the same principles - but the rya backing (as on the video) is much harder to find. It can be handwoven for you in the traditional pure linen warp and wool weft, but that means it is justifiably expensive (£135 for 36"x60").

  • Thanks. Since I don't know when I'll find my next rya backing, I really wanted this rya to be special--in case it is my last. You are right about supplies being hard to find and expensive when you find them. Seems there may be a resurgence of interest in ryas and possibly new supplies made with quality materials...keep fingers crossed.

  • Have always wanted to make a rya rug, but it's very difficult to find the materials & when I did they were very expensive. Your's are absolutely beautiful.

  • I really enjoyed this. A very nice mix of detailed information and fun facts too!
