how do you deal with a doc who thinks your a hypercondriac, but your not. I have undiagnosed MS. My 1st round of testing was negative(ish). but i clearly have many MS symptoms. He demonstrates his unfamiliarity with basics of MS often & even tells me whenever i see him that "youve been extensively tested, so you dont have MS". If he were informed at all, he would know MS is often difficult to detect. sometimes it takes multiple rounds of testing over the course of years.
@sleekcartim P.S. I have state run insurance, it isnt easy to get good / experienced docs. thats why im trying to deal with this doc before leaving him the dust
how do you get rid of hypochondria once and for all? Another question: how do normal people like you feel? The thing is I've been experiencing social anxiety for a long time and I still do somewhat. Right now though all of my muscles including the muscles in my genitals are completely relaxed. Is this normal? Also my breathing is more deep and quieter. Is that normal? Thanks for any feedback.
Doctors said I had nothing, but then I started to feel something in my left feet and then on my leg, and I started to worry that the Thrombus had moved to my leg, and now, even thou I know that Deep Vein Thrombosis on the arms is extremely rare and it makes no sense, I cannot take my mind away from any from my leg and my fear of dying for this. I have caused Gastritis on my self for taking aspirin when I don't need to, in an attempt to stop the thrombus from getting bigger, and I can't sleep.
22 male, studying abroad, I live alone. I have the bad habit of sleeping over my arms, and some times when I wake up one or both are "sleep", but a week ago one of them take longer to "wake" than usual... and I started to think I had a case of Deep Vein Thrombosis, and I feared having brain embolism, so I started to worry, I started to feel dizzy and I thought I was going to fall down any moment because of embolism, and I called an ambulance.
Oh hello! Have you considered anxiety zero technique (Go to anxiety0.info)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cooworker pretty much cured panick attacks with it.
Would anyone who is a hypochondriac from the UK, who uses Google to check their symptoms, please email me on x_jolie@hotmail.co.uk for a magazine article. Thankyou!
it's horrible. im 16 and i have it and my whole family is basically fed up with me. and it makes me feel like a jerk, freaking out about my health when other people have actual health problems. the guilt certainly doesn't help!
I started suffering from this about 9 months ago. It is an awful mental disorder that has given me horrid chest pains and cost me a lot of time and memories.
I've been diagonsed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and I'm taking 20 milograms of Paxil daily. I'm afraid that I have Hypocondria..I watch Health Shows alot and I go to WebMD and check to see if I have certain diseases..
I have hypochondria and I'm only 13. One day, I noticed two bruises, and I began crying and shaking, and I thought that it was all over for me because I have leukemia. I even considered suicide because I was so frightened. It's really annoying. I sometimes have underlying anxiety that I don't notice because I'm doing other things, so I begin trembling and feeling dizzy without even knowing why, and then I think I have diabetes. PLEASE HELP!!! IVE HAD IT SINCE THE AGE OF 6!!!
@djsandra1 I started doing the same thing and thinking the SAME EXACT THINGS when I was 6.I remember inspecting my bruises and timing how long it would take them to heal, and wondering if they should be healing faster.
It is BIZARRE how similar your symptoms are to my own.
I can tell you that you are unintentionally hyperventilating, which is what is causing the sensations of 'dizziness' and shakiness.
But I can understand EXACTLY how you feel. This is deja vu to me!
I've had OCD related hypochondria all my life, practically. I'm in my mid 30's now. One of the best diseases you could self diagnose yourself is the hypochondria, itself. Don't think it will magically disappear, however. A step in the right direction, though.
health anxiety is terrible! i cant go anywhere becuase im afraid of having an anxiety attack about something so random to do with my health. its embarrising and yet i cant help it :(
It's a pain in the ass. It started after I went in for my annual physical. I wasn't as active as I used to be so I had a wake up call and some tests to show a fatty liver.. then from there it went downhill. Thinking I had hiv, a tumor, cancer, brain tumor. It's a hyper sensitivity to your bodily sensations
I have good days and bad days, I've been have a few bad days.. thinking I'm losing my eye sight. I'm a web designer and I'm on the computer all day.. go figure.
The problem with this illness; when there really is something wrong it will be dismissed by physicians if the patient has a tag of hypochondria or somatization. There is also the problem of overlay between psychological and physiological issues, making it hard to discern an etiology.
"The problem with this illness; when there really is something wrong it will be dismissed by physicians if the patient has a tag of hypochondria or somatization" -- thats a pretty irresponsible comment for a video which lots of really anxious people are going to look at
On the contrary in my opinion.. You see.. I was given a somatization tag, when I had a real problem the doctors saw that on my record and went " aaa haaahh, another one of these cases" and let me tell you .. if you have it in your record you should keep it tucked away from any new doctors... hence my issues turned out to be a GI functional issue not seen in blood work or a CT.. said it was in my head... wasn't taken seriously
OH GOD! thankyouthankyouthabkyou!!! it seems there are more people out there who are the same as me! thank you for this ^.^.....for anyone who cares ive had bowel cancer, breast cancer, brain tumors and had a demon spirit that made me sick XDDD when i look at the way i think its really laughable!
I like this post a lot. youre a cutie. I feel like I have a whole bunch of disorders, health anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks...so yea. my problem is i feel a pain and i worry that it is serious like a heart attack. the worry causes the pain to get worse, and i can't tell if its getting worse because i have a health problem or im just anxious. i also get extremely nervous around lots of people and i feel like im stuck and cant excape certain places like at work. i hate being stared at =(
I though i had hiv went to the doctor and had negative results I was calm for a week then I thought "they might have missed it or something! cause these symptoms are soo real"the HIV got out of my mind (for now)I fear herpes now! MAN I get soo mad at myself cause I know that I am being crazy but then I get a little sensation and I suddenly think it's something serious
When i was 8years old to 11 I watch my mother suffer with cancer and she died when I was 11 3 years later my 7 yr old step brother died suddenly when I was 19years old
i have something like this and also where if I felt like i was treated badly by someone i would make up a day dream (or whatever) where i killed myself or got into a car accident and then they would feel sorry for me, i odnt know what it is but it is killing me
I think you said it yourself - you're just high anxiety. However, anxiety as a mental health problem is diagnosable if it interferes with your life. But you're making such a success of yours that it would be hard to justify.
