Nowhere in his answer does he state (1) that Cheney had issued an order or (2) that the order the young officer was asking about was a stand-down order. For example, Cheney's statement could have refered to a shoot-down order, not a stand-down order, and his statement could have refered to someone else's order. It's obvious, then, that you don't have any expertise in structural engineering, physics, or fire science. I'm a licensed civil engineer in CA with more than 30 yrs experience. Since structural engineering is a subfield of civil, I have some structural experience as well.

Several months ago on this very video I showed by a simple calcultion how one overstressed column in WTC7 was enough to inititate failure of the entire structure as concluded by NIST. @FoxDavidson First, it wasn't the foundation of WTC7 that failed, it was a column. This is covered in Chapter 5 of FEMA 403 and in NIST NCSTAR1 and NCSTAR1A, all of which are available for download. I suggest you read them. Real experts from MIT, Purdue, ASCE, etc have modeled the collapses and determined that impact and structural weakening from fire was sufficient to bring down the buildings. Do a search using Google Scholar as you will find the experts you say don't exist.

Do a google search for "Fire Safety Engineering & the Performance of Structural Steel in Fires". The first hit includes a list of steel frame collapses due to fire. Also, don't forget the 2007 collapse of part of the "Bay Bridge MacArthur Maze due to a tanker truck fire. The bridge collapsed from fire alone. There was no impact damage. I have evidence, you don't.

@FoxDavidson What part of physics wasn't working? The failure and collapse of WTC7 has been mathematically modeled and the model results match what was observed. Since you believe AETruth and they believe in controlled demo, why is there no evidence explosives were ever placed (either at time of construction or later) and no evidence for blast products in the rubble? Why were no blast sounds heard? Who controlled the demo? Strucutral failure due to damage and heat is all it took.

@stmahlberg The side of an office building is not a multi-feet thick reinforced concrete wall and an airliner would still leave 200 tons of debree in front of the wall. Hundreds of mph? Are there any witnesses to the pentagon crash?
It would seem that the proportions of damage to the pentagon building would be somewhat similar to the damage caused on the wtc buildings. The wingspan of the airliner is about 50m and the momentum of 200 tons would do far more damage.

@arscill1 In addition, Purdue University studied the building collapses, MIT did studies, etc. Go to Google Scholar and do searches for things like "9-11", "9-11 attacks", "WTC collapse", "Pentagon attack" , etc. The evidence is overwhelmingly conclusive that 19 Al Qiada terrorists hijacked 4 airliners and flew them into the WTC, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania, and that the impacts and fires caused the WTC buildings to collapse.

@arscill1 Wrong. The "visualizations" were a product of detailed numerical modeling of the impact, fires, & collapse. You really need to read the professional papers related to this study & the other studies to understand what they did. For example, have you read the papers I cited for WTC7? I have. Of course, if you don't have a background in structural engineering or fire science or physics you will probably have a tough time with parts of it. However, the conclusions are clear.

@arscill1 Regarding your "where is the plane?" question....seriously??? Photos taken immediately after the impact clearly show airplane debris. The black box from Flight 77 was found at the site as were personal effects from passengers on the flight. A good place to start is the well-sourced article on Wikipedia titled "American Airlines Flight 77" I know that Wikipedia is not always a good source, but this article is excellent and contains lots of links to good information..

@TaosZenShaman And I have read several things written by other PhD's that refute her analysis, including one by physicist Gregory Jenkins titled "The Overwhelming Implausibility of Using Directed Energy Beams to Demolish the World Trade Center Towers." @pakenhamin It seems silly to think an impact from a plane with either tower that was designed to sway in the breeze would register to a ground shaking 2.1 and 2.0 [I believe] and about 13 seconds too early as the plane flew. However, there are lots of photographs available if you look for them. The reason they didn't look for explosives is that the planes and fires were sufficient to bring down the buildings and experts figured that out pretty quickly. However, debris was tested, and except for the spurious case of Dr. Jones, no evidence for exposives was found. Try again.

For quantitative, you must look to structural engineering (I gave a simple calc a few days back to illustrate the point), fire science, and the modeling done by Purdue University, etc. Heat steel to 750°F and the thermal stresses increase to the point of failure for loaded beams and columns. I will say it again, there was no evidence of explosives, including in the materials that were tested.
@Strat765 (cont) I suspect the reason the investigators did not look for explosives is that the bldg collapses could readily be explained by impact and fire and because there was no reason or plausible explanation for exposives to be in the bldgs or in sufficient quantity to bring them down. While I was watching this unfold on TV, I told my wife I thought the buildings were going to collapse and told her why (impact, fire, and heavy floors above). The experts figured this out also.

@FoxDavidson First, it wasn't the foundation of WTC7 that failed, it was a column. This is covered in Chapter 5 of FEMA 403 and in NIST NCSTAR1 and NCSTAR1A, all of which are available for download. I suggest you read them. Real experts from MIT, Purdue, ASCE, etc have modeled the collapses and determined that impact and structural weakening from fire was sufficient to bring down the buildings. Do a search using Google Scholar as you will find the experts you say don't exist.

Also, don't forget the 2007 collapse of part of the "Bay Bridge MacArthur Maze due to a tanker truck fire. The bridge collapsed from fire alone. There was no impact damage. @FoxDavidson What part of physics wasn't working? The failure and collapse of WTC7 has been mathematically modeled and the model results match what was observed. Since you believe AETruth and they believe in controlled demo, why is there no evidence explosives were ever placed (either at time of construction or later) and no evidence for blast products in the rubble? Why were no blast sounds heard? Who controlled the demo? Strucutral failure due to damage and heat is all it took.

There is an abundance of evidence supporting controlled demo. i.e. pictures of 45 degree cuts in the main support beams of WT3C 1&2. @stmahlberg The side of an office building is not a multi-feet thick reinforced concrete wall and an airliner would still leave 200 tons of debree in front of the wall. Hundreds of mph? Are there any witnesses to the pentagon crash?
It would seem that the proportions of damage to the pentagon building would be somewhat similar to the damage caused on the wtc buildings. The wingspan of the airliner is about 50m and the momentum of 200 tons would do far more damage.

@arscill1 Wrong. The "visualizations" were a product of detailed numerical modeling of the impact, fires, & collapse. You really need to read the professional papers related to this study & the other studies to understand what they did. For example, have you read the papers I cited for WTC7? I have. Of course, if you don't have a background in structural engineering or fire science or physics you will probably have a tough time with parts of it. However, the conclusions are clear.

The black box from Flight 77 was found at the site as were personal effects from passengers on the flight. @pakenhamin It seems silly to think an impact from a plane with either tower that was designed to sway in the breeze would register to a ground shaking 2.1 and 2.0 [I believe] and about 13 seconds too early as the plane flew. This does happen with quarry work or a huge basement blast just as all of the basement level witnesses described. Maureen, Willy,,, too numerous the witnesses to list here.

BTW, your claim ISN'T proof & since your claim isn't true you will not be able to PROVE it. WTC7 collapsed due to thermal overstress in a key structural column. The engineering analysis of the collapse was thorough & persuasive. I covered all that several weeks ago. If you aren't willing to check the websites I mentioned, then I must conclude you aren't interested in the truth.

More on the nature of CTs....The moon landings. EVERY objection posed by the deniers has been definitively refuted by real experts and still some people claim the landings were fake. Whay are there are no stars in the photographs? The photos were taken in daylight using daylight settings. It takes several seconds to get stars. Where is the crater unter the engine bell? 3000 psi thrust out of a nozzle nearly 5 feet across is only about 1.5 psi, barely enough to stir some dust. And so it goes.

9-11 WAS a conspiracy, you may be suprised to hear me state. But, it was an Al Qaida conspiracy, not a US gov't conspiracy. ALL of the evidence and ALL of the scientific/engineering analyses points to hijacked airplanes being flown into buildings. Explosives were not needed to bring down the WTC and there is NO evidence that exposives existed. Name names, back up your "evidence," and get people convicted. Put your money where your mouth is. You may be surprised to learn that the federal government has lost in court....far more than once. I don't discount conspiracies (e.g. subprime mortgage fiasco and SOME heads rolled there). However, 9-11 was NOT.

However, all the evidence (Dr. Jones notwithstanding) indicates that no thermite existed at the WTC. The building collapses are well explained by plane crashes and fires. Explosives were not needed and there wasn't any there to begin with. Rather than start with "conspiracy" and twist facts to fit, you should start with the evidence.

@CokeSupply All such distaster scenes eventually get cordoned off for good reasons: safety and so the investigation doesn't get compromised. However, there are lots of photographs available if you look for them. The reason they didn't look for explosives is that the planes and fires were sufficient to bring down the buildings and experts figured that out pretty quickly. However, debris was tested, and except for the spurious case of Dr. Jones, no evidence for exposives was found. Try again.

Detailed scientific and engineering analyses concluded that the fire was sufficient to bring down WTC7. There was no evidence of explosives, including in the materials that were tested.

Photos and videos taken AT THE TIME show planes crashing into buildings and we know which planes and we know who the hijackers were. There was airplane debris at each site. The evidence is overwhelming to anyone who isn't blind. Are you familiar with the FBI's Operation PENTTBOM, which is the investigation that figured out who these guys were? Start there are you find the evidence you crave.

@Strat765 Actually these reports provide a good qualitative explanation of how. For quantitative, you must look to structural engineering (I gave a simple calc a few days back to illustrate the point), fire science, and the modeling done by Purdue University, etc. Heat steel to 750°F and the thermal stresses increase to the point of failure for loaded beams and columns. I will say it again, there was no evidence of explosives, including in the materials that were tested.

@Strat765 (cont) I suspect the reason the investigators did not look for explosives is that the bldg collapses could readily be explained by impact and fire and because there was no reason or plausible explanation for exposives to be in the bldgs or in sufficient quantity to bring them down. While I was watching this unfold on TV, I told my wife I thought the buildings were going to collapse and told her why (impact, fire, and heavy floors above). The experts figured this out also.

@lachmichweg Except there is a BIG hole in your logic. Your "Obviously" presumes no other valid explanations, but there is a much better explanation than controlled demolitions. See my posts from about 2 weeks ago for details. Plane crashes & fires were sufficient to bring down the towers & a resulting fire in Bldg 7 was sufficient to weaken a key column and cause progressive collapse. These have been well studied and are reasonable. There is no valid evidence for exposives.
