Versailles ,all the beauty and wealth- yet this woman never saw an ocean or many things much poorer people take for granted.Her oldest son and oldest daughter died before they were made to leave the great palace.She would have wished for a simpler life and most of all to be just a mother seeing her remaining son& daughter achieve adulthood. Immensely sad .She hasalways intrigued me. her letters show a much cleverer woman than many of us know.Courage from her mother followed her last days.
