@resinatedhuman sorry, I meant plant waxes (but they are tied tightly to the terpenes when you purge and over purging to get hard amber will purge terpenes). So I spend a lot of time trying to get the lowest heat before vac, lately using a blow dryer until viscous and thinking about a heat lamp right on the vac.
where is the best place to get wax and budder in socal? I was thinking CPA just from reviews, and chubbs videos, but do you recommend trying a few other places while I'm in the OC area? Youtube is filled with videos showing how to make bho. Check the forums in the cannabis related websites and you will find all you need to know. That's what I did.
@shabadoody it's all in the purge. Whipping it to make budder just adds air to the oil and makes it degrade quicker. I was not as happy with the sour grapes budder that was made from top shelf buds than the wax I made with the trim that I did not whip, but it did auto-budder and came out more waxy. That sample is not in this video as I did it afterwards.

The color also has to do with how hot they got it, when they purged it. I dont go above 180 degrees, when I make my wax. If i get it like 220, it turns into amberglass. I dont like that it shatters, all over the place. Ive snapped it in my eye before too. Some strains, like the cut of cheese i have, doesnt melt down, unless i turn it up to 220, so I havent been able to make anything other than amberglass, from the cheese, unless i want to scrape it out, when it still has butane in it.
@Terajumper69 This is a common misconception. Butane is non-toxic (it's only a suffocant, meaning you can suffocate if you breathe it). It is used to isolate essential oils in food preparations. That said, you def want to make sure to purge all of the butane. The best method is low heat 120 degrees to get it viscous and then use a vacuum chamber to off gas the oil. You get way more butane in your lungs using a lighter to light a pipe or bong than you do from smoking a lb. of bho. Look it up...

If you over purge it or use too much heat it will turn to shatter and lose terpenes and not taste as good, but it will be more potent as you have heated out a good amount of terpenes and taste with them. @herbprophet totally. I think it is strain based mostly and find that sativas tend to wax up better. When I think of the term budder, I think of whipping it and that is something I have only done with the Sour Grapes and was not that stoked with it as it degrades way faster than any other form.

I agree about Wax being better vs. budder. I I like sativa dominent waxes better than indica too...I make a wax blend of 3 to 4 sativa dominent strains. Most recent Snakebite(cinderella 99 x romulan x lollipop), chem dawg, and black domina(hash plant x northern lights x ortega x afghani sa)wax

i would not want any of them they look like crap your hash should not be soft if it is it's not pure. trichomes (thc) are not soft so your hash should not be soft it should be very hard at room temp the people that made that where lazy and did not finish it

If you over purge it or use too much heat it will turn to shatter and lose terpenes and not taste as good, but it will be more potent as you have heated out a good amount of terpenes and taste with them. The fact is, you will never know how good this bho is.

@herbprophet totally. I think it is strain based mostly and find that sativas tend to wax up better. When I think of the term budder, I think of whipping it and that is something I have only done with the Sour Grapes and was not that stoked with it as it degrades way faster than any other form.

@TheCCC420 The Purp is not my fave either, but it is not second run, it is crushed bud 1st run. The real issue with the Purple Kush is that it is not "the" PK that tastes and smells awesome. It is more earthy. That is why I have eliminated this strain from my lineup.
