...also, a nearly impossible song to do at Karaoke. Because no host has 3 microphones, for a spoken-word male, a female black soul-singer and a female opera-singer. Usually the male gets bored waiting for his turn, gets drunk, decides the opera-singer is too fat and tries to hit on the black girl so it's a big mess before it's even their turn to sing.
Sometimes I'm almost embarrassed that my musical passport says "Musical awareness born in the '80's. Kick-ass music, but music videos with the most incredible thematic fuck-ups.
I still remember my first club experience at Bumpers, a suburban Vancouver, Canada club circa 1983/84. The girls were gliding to Madame Butterfly wearing pencil thin long skirts, off the shoulder blouses, powdered white faces, and smoking More 100's cigarettes. I was in heaven at first glimpse, and promptly devoted a good part of my life in the 80's and 90's to the night club experience. Those days are long gone, and will never be repeated by todays modern society. Thank you Malcolm.
Havnt heard this in a long long time. Tuned my mobile fone onto radio stations n on it came.. gave me goosebumps then n does today..Had to come find it.. nice quiality upload!!!!!.. And yes May he R.i.P taken way to soon. :(
I remember seeing this video for the first time in 1983 in one of Chicago's FIRST video bars, Berlin *it's still there*. I immediately fell in love w.the vid and the beautiful models and the music. A friend of mine later recorded the cassette for me (cassettes - anyone remember those?) and I played it for another friend of mine who was visiting from California. Instantly he fell in love with the music. Interesting because later he traveled to Japan and had a mistress there. true!
In 1984 when this song came out in the UK, I was about to leave home and goto university. This song will always remind me of that time of my life. RIP Malcolm McClaren.
why is there always a suggestion video of Lady Ga Ga between these great artists...she doesn't fit the quality and style of this artist...so youtube...stop the promotion( money matters).. and think art and quality...you will be lasting a long lifetime!!! RIP Malcolm
Can't some artist recover this song today. Its a Great song from a Great artist Malcolm McLaren was. He deserves it to be lived whit his songs forever.
This album is wonderful! An absolute favorite of mine.. Of the 80's.. a time of pretty good music.. this and Brian Ferry's masterpieces come to mind.... God speed Malcolm and thank you!

Not heard this for ages. I was not a fan of McLaren but loved this song and agree with the comments below; he was before his time. Listening to this the first time got me interested in opera and noe I'm a huge Puccini fan(thanks Malc). What was it, 10 years later, opera became the big fashion thing to like during Italy 90 World Cup. Have to say mcLaren was before his time. Cheers dude and RIP
@TranceOnJeroen2 - the genius of the guy (RIP) speaks from his music and art. not from notes. please understand I'm not hating on you, (thnx for the upload) just that the notes prevent me from watching a part of the video. cheers ^__^
the notes are what make this video unique...they are a tribute to a great "manipulator" of past Art with a personal genius touch... Connoisseurs like you might cry : " heresy" but I am sure many people have discovered and started to love Opera trough McLaren...

Never seen the whole video as 2 young 2 remember the video, but soon as i heard this song, fell in love with it and couldnt stop playing it on my 'philips cassette player!!' McLaren brought the combination of opera, pop, and rap when others thought it was impossible in those days! Who would have thought his music would still live 25 yrs on??
Thanks for uploading this song and HD quality sound and picture...technology's changed since the 80's but the music's still 'timeless'...RIP McLaren xx
There IS something 'sensual, erotic and beautiful' about this track!
He was the ORIGINAL music producer who made 'quality music', unlike the likes of Pete Waterman or Mr Cowell, who have ruined british popular-music!! ;((
I don't really like the video but the song is brilliant-I cannot believe he is dead-lucky bastard! Why so many misspellings in the lower paragraph? How about the Sex Pistols connection?
So sad to see him die, a man who was SO ahead of his time. I've just played this to my partner who assumed it was released in the early 90s. This was 1984.
