Isn't it a little unfair to judge the Zen Vision M based on today's players? The thing was released in 2005! It was good for it's time, and I think if Creative worked on it more it would've gotten better. I still use mine but it's gotten really slow and it does crash every now and then. I'm thinking about upgrading to the Zune HD since the newer Creative players look kind of laggy... and crappy. I wouldn't consider an ipod because of stupid itunes; and for their prices, you get less features.
That thing is F******* thick and talk about ugly, the formats of the munu screen look ugly and it looks like the screen is made out of plastic and again it is THICK, and seriosly the button takes up half of the screen and the brightness is WEAAAK. i mean come onn, oh and the recording the radio thing is illegal but it is cool i wish my zune hd and itouch can do that, oh and by the way that thing looks thicker than the zune 1gen which is horribly bad so creative zen vision m
@rubikscube10111 Mine have fallen a lot, thanks to that thickness it has survived :P and no scratches on screen yet. The radio recording is illegal, thats why the UPDATE took it out.
i have 2 of those. one is from 2006 and the other was the same, but bought in early 2007. Both are dead now.... one has dead pixels and can barely display the screen, and the other won't turn on. Compare this to my iPod 4G from 2004 that i used the same only difference is mine still works- 100% like the day i bought it on november 04

it took a while to get my money back, but the day after i got my money back i went to walmart and got a new ipod.

I just don't like a machine arranging the music I like. I want control over that. I have an Archos 404 30 gb and it would of been great if it didn't keep freezing up and other problems with it.

I think Ipods are way better than zen. Zen dosent have the touch screen devices yet not like the ipod. Apple introduced ipod touch and iphone way back in 2007. I have a creative zen vision M, it's 2 years old, it's very reliable (i've dropped it plenty of times), has great sound quality, good battery life, nice UI and is over all a great player, i'd far rather it to any iPod i've used

well the vision M was released in 2005, but the zen line was released before 2001, when you're iPod breaks, before going out and buying another, look on the internet for reviews of MP3 players, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the amount of PMPs out there that are better the iPod, and you'll probably save yourself some money as well.

ipods have the worst format compatibility of any player ive used. You have to convert video and music to the format Apple wants or it won't work. I think Zen's are way better and more reliable...I have a Zen Micro and I know it's kinda behind the times...but I love it! My friend has a big Zen like this and you can change the backgrounds and everything!

i live in cyprus and the ipod classic 80 gb is 229 euros...i have no idea if that is a good price cz we hav only just converted to euros but i also noticed the zen vision m i 117 euros...for 30gb and i imagine for the 60gb its about 280 if that and that is a much better price... especailly since it plays a lot more formats but i still duno how to put music on it no videos depict wether it is compatible with i tunes but the creative site sez it is
I used to have a ZEN like this one but i broke the screen and i bought a 80g classic ipod. The only thing i can say is that i miss my zen. It was pretty more functional...

the ipod is obviously much better than that shit of zen, the new ipod classic comes in 80gb and 16 at the same price as the previous version! and it has much more features, it doesn't have radio and voice recorder but it has the clean and elegant coverflow mode, i'ts like 50% slimer than the zen, it comes with the user split screen on each menu and the audio quality is much better, so don't compare the zen with the ipod cuz zen sucks dick!!

Ipod defenetly better than Zen because Ipod has been around since 2001 and a new product that came out in September of 2007 is called ipod touch and Creative zen dosent have that Technology yet. Where Creative Zen Has been around since probably around mid 2000s but Creative zen wasnt around when the Ipods were introduced.
creative MP3 players have been around since 2001 also, and an interesting fact you may wish to know the apple click wheel was a creative idea, creative have the patent for it and apple were sued for copyright infringement.
true there is no creative model that has touch screen, but likewise there is no iPod model with wi-fi, allowing for wireless streaming of music from your PC to your zen
i used to have one. i sold to get an ipod touch. it was a great player because it played divx(i had like 23 movies on that thing)and it had some pretty good features. but when i filled it up, it started running really really slow(like every other product i guess) but it froze on me way to many times. even before it was full. just playing videos BAM!! froze. Its a great player but nothing compares to apps on a ipod touch. sorry

oh the screen scratches... badly... but you can buy a glass restoring kit which you can find at most drug stores and eye glasses stores that takes care of the problem until you scratch it again... that's the only flaw though... really good mp3 player
I got the 30GB Zen Xtra a few years ago and was happy with it and still use it. I got the 60GB Zen Vision M because it had features my Zen Xtra didn't have which was full color video and photos, FM tuner and mic recorder. Only probably is it drains the battery faster than my older Zen, obviously because of the added features and the display.
@palacio154 My Zen is 3 years old and I have used it 10 hours a day , 7 days a week . I have worn out 3 sets of ear-buds. I am buying a new one because I can hardly read song titles anymore due to scratchs.

I have the Zen Vision M and its great but I think that the new ipod is now even better , I mean the ipod has the capacity of 80 gb and 160 gb and the zen goes from 30 gb to 60 gb you cant beat that
DO NOT BUT THIS MP3 PLAYER! Yes they are much better quality than iPod's, but they are not durable in the slightest. A huge amount of incidents have occured with peoples screens imploding for no apparent reason, along with many peoples display messing up, including mine. If you want quality, get this but make sure you take extreme care of it, unless you like listening to an mp3 regularly, get a different mp3!
And i suggest (although it is strongly built, it IS a precision electronic devise, & should be treated as thus), that you stop treating your gear roughly & like shit!

Pity tha ZVM is soo fragile. Shake it (worse if you drop it), then it's toast. Hard disk memory is fragile, unlike flash memory. So Creative, please come out with a nice Zen Vision that uses flash drive. I know you have a 32gb flash drive memory, or else, i'd stick with Ipod which is more durable
Are you kidding?! Shake it or drop it? God knows how many times I've dropped mine, (not on purpose). It has the scars to prove it but it still works like new. iPod is not as durable as the Zen Vision:M. Sheesh.
I dropped mine once and the screen went black. fortunately I have a friend who makes money repairing ipods and he fixed it right up. then I left it in my backpack and the screen broke...
I recently dropped mine (from very high up onto concrete floor, so it makes sense that it broke) and had to ship it back to Creative to get it fixed. ALL hard drives are fragile, due to a piece that gets knocked out of place from a hard impact or if it's shaken and it will never work again. ANY hard drive would break if you dropped it hard enough.
I LOVE the ZVM, i've owned a white 30GB one for 1.5 yrs now! - Perfect. I don't hate the ipod, but i detest the Fanboy, herd 'go with the masses' that it represents.

I have to say that zen its kool, but its really, a pain in the ass when it comes to transfer music and softwares, and all the little crap to update it. I pod its way easier and its not as heavy as zen mp3 players and its also better then zen when it comes to watch movies or video clips, but sometimes I podtouch sucks in colors. ex. your are watching a movie and out of no where you screen starts changing normal colors to bright colors and you have to turn it off and on to fix the problem.
I have a Zen and it's perfect...its performance is incredible and the compatibility with pc makes it even better.
It's not as cute as the Ipods, but it't way much better in functions (I had a Nano 3g and decided to keep Zen)...maybe they should make them a bit more slim and more colors (I have the black one, but the green y horrible)...but that's for Cosmo users! XD

well the vision M was released in 2005, but the zen line was released before 2001, when you're iPod breaks, before going out and buying another, look on the internet for reviews of MP3 players, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the amount of PMPs out there that are better the iPod, and you'll probably save yourself some money as well.

I broke my ipod touch way back in October 2008 and Apple store replaced it for free and my ipod touch is still in good condition.

ipods have the worst format compatibility of any player ive used. You have to convert video and music to the format Apple wants or it won't work. Worst is video. and ipods don't support wma? wma is probably the most widely used audio format out there. play with a zen faggot. this is all coming from an ipod user.

I think Zen's are way better and more reliable...I have a Zen Micro and I know it's kinda behind the times...but I love it! My friend has a big Zen like this and you can change the backgrounds and everything!

i live in cyprus and the ipod classic 80 gb is 229 euros...i have no idea if that is a good price cz we hav only just converted to euros but i also noticed the zen vision m i 117 euros...for 30gb and i imagine for the 60gb its about 280 if that and that is a much better price... especailly since it plays a lot more formats but i still duno how to put music on it no videos depict wether it is compatible with i tunes but the creative site sez it is

the ipod is obviously much better than that shit of zen, the new ipod classic comes in 80gb and 16 at the same price as the previous version! and it has much more features, it doesn't have radio and voice recorder but it has the clean and elegant coverflow mode, i'ts like 50% slimer than the zen, it comes with the user split screen on each menu and the audio quality is much better, so don't compare the zen with the ipod cuz zen sucks dick!!

Ipod defenetly better than Zen because Ipod has been around since 2001 and a new product that came out in September of 2007 is called ipod touch and Creative zen dosent have that Technology yet. Where Creative Zen Has been around since probably around mid 2000s but Creative zen wasnt around when the Ipods were introduced.

creative MP3 players have been around since 2001 also, and an interesting fact you may wish to know the apple click wheel was a creative idea, creative have the patent for it and apple were sued for copyright infringement.
true there is no creative model that has touch screen, but likewise there is no iPod model with wi-fi, allowing for wireless streaming of music from your PC to your zen

i used to have one. i sold to get an ipod touch. it was a great player because it played divx(i had like 23 movies on that thing)and it had some pretty good features. but when i filled it up, it started running really really slow(like every other product i guess) but it froze on me way to many times. even before it was full. just playing videos BAM!! froze. Its a great player but nothing compares to apps on a ipod touch. sorry

oh the screen scratches... badly... but you can buy a glass restoring kit which you can find at most drug stores and eye glasses stores that takes care of the problem until you scratch it again... that's the only flaw though... really good mp3 player

I got the 30GB Zen Xtra a few years ago and was happy with it and still use it. I got the 60GB Zen Vision M because it had features my Zen Xtra didn't have which was full color video and photos, FM tuner and mic recorder. Only probably is it drains the battery faster than my older Zen, obviously because of the added features and the display.

I have the Zen Vision M and its great but I think that the new ipod is now even better , I mean the ipod has the capacity of 80 gb and 160 gb and the zen goes from 30 gb to 60 gb you cant beat that

DO NOT BUT THIS MP3 PLAYER! Yes they are much better quality than iPod's, but they are not durable in the slightest. A huge amount of incidents have occured with peoples screens imploding for no apparent reason, along with many peoples display messing up, including mine. If you want quality, get this but make sure you take extreme care of it, unless you like listening to an mp3 regularly, get a different mp3!

Pity tha ZVM is soo fragile. Shake it (worse if you drop it), then it's toast. Hard disk memory is fragile, unlike flash memory. So Creative, please come out with a nice Zen Vision that uses flash drive. I know you have a 32gb flash drive memory, or else, i'd stick with Ipod which is more durable

I dropped mine once and the screen went black. fortunately I have a friend who makes money repairing ipods and he fixed it right up. then I left it in my backpack and the screen broke...

I recently dropped mine (from very high up onto concrete floor, so it makes sense that it broke) and had to ship it back to Creative to get it fixed. ALL hard drives are fragile, due to a piece that gets knocked out of place from a hard impact or if it's shaken and it will never work again. ANY hard drive would break if you dropped it hard enough.

I have to say that zen its kool, but its really, a pain in the ass when it comes to transfer music and softwares, and all the little crap to update it. I pod its way easier and its not as heavy as zen mp3 players and its also better then zen when it comes to watch movies or video clips, but sometimes I podtouch sucks in colors. ex. your are watching a movie and out of no where you screen starts changing normal colors to bright colors and you have to turn it off and on to fix the problem.

I have a Zen and it's perfect...its performance is incredible and the compatibility with pc makes it even better.
It's not as cute as the Ipods, but it't way much better in functions (I had a Nano 3g and decided to keep Zen)...maybe they should make them a bit more slim and more colors (I have the black one, but the green y horrible)...but that's for Cosmo users! XD
