Whoaaaaa! I was going to go for Alpinestars GP Tech, but these babies just seem to take it up a notch, even over and above the GP Tech. What do you guys think?
Also, do you have any problems with the oval protectors on either side of the wrist digging in at their edges, or is it not an issue?
@RS250Squid The Handroids have completely exceeded expectations since the debut. I have ridden in them quite a bit and find no issues with any of the external armor.
I love your reviews. I didn't know you guys were in Michigan! I live in Ottawa, Canada. I will be ordering a lot from you guys next season. I would like to see all products available from Dainese though. Compared to revzilla you guys are missing a lot of colorways. Still have my business though.
@zyou8er Yes there is a full warranty. Please email service at sportbiketrackgear or call 888.784.4327 and we can get you taken care of. I have ridden in the Biomechs pretty much all of 2011 so far and have had zero issues, even with one crash on them.
i'm sorry this sounds rude but this clip just seems like a very elaborate 3rd party commercial for KNOX... is there anything you DON'T like about the glove? when i first saw it i really had my doubts about the stitching of the leather, just didn't seem as durable as an alpinestars gp pro glove...
quick forum research indicates that multiple people are having the same problems, ie the leather wearing off and coming loose, as soon as after just 5 months!
@jathe5th approx 4% of the handroids from the initial run had a problem. This has since been corrected, now at 1% or less. This is a pretty complex article and it took the factory a short period to dial them in. Search the forums for A* gloves they have their issues as well. KNOX offers a 1 year replacement warranty.
After riding in these in 2010 I will say the white plastic cover came loose a few times. Beyond that they were my go to gloves all of 2010 and I will use them in 2011.
@jathe5th Have one pair, been using them around 4 months, road riding, no real problems whatsoever in terms of quality, only problem was the mentioned whiteplastic cover that some times goes out of place when you make a fist.
My previous gloves were Alpinestars GP Tech, and I most say that the Knox is better in almost every respect, except for one...cooling, the GP tech is better in that area, I would say 20% better.
But it in all other areas the Handroid in my opinion beat the GP tech...
@VinnieDain424 the exoskeleton does not prevent hyper extension of the fingers, but does seem to provide a lot more protection from impact when the hand is in a fist. like Van said, they're there to provide protection from impact and abrasion, not so much for hyper extension.
the exoskeleton on the fingers gave me a bit of trouble as i was hitting the back end of the levers on my way back to the hand grips. this was easily corrected by setting the default position of the levers slightly further away. construction is excellent, and the design allows for amazing mobility of the wrist. tightening system works great.
i've always been an alpinestar guy for gloves, but not anymore after riding with these!
just got mine in the mail today, black size small. Fits similar to the GP series alpinestars gloves, i normally wear a small in A-stars GP and they always fit super snug when i first wear them, this is pretty much the same initial tightness.the kangaroo palm is noticeably thinner than the normal leather palms of other gloves, and gives more feel on the controls.
A suggestion for Brian: try doing the reviews without the baseball cap. Your reviews are really useful, but it's sometimes weird to watch someone talking when you can only see shadows where your eyes are. As someone who has done a lot of camera work, I can tell you that not wearing hats is mandatory in commercial filming.
Brian, how would you compare sizing in relation to say the A*s GP-Plus? Are they comparable in size or do they come up any larger/smaller than other brands?
I must say your review has me sold on getting some hand protectors now, ready for the new season.
Hey Brian. Looking to buy a new set of gloves. I was thinking either Dainese Full metal or the new Knox. You've tried them both what would you choose? Are there any other gloves you sell that you like better than both of these?
Just from the look of the construction, I will bet that Handroid will be better than Held Phantom, but Held Titan still has the upper hand but not by much.
The samples we have here are solid. Still waiting on the production models to arrive. I would put them on the same plane with the RS Taichi and Held. We really need to see how well they hold up with use and how durable they are in a crash. We expect them to do well in both. Still to be compared to the RS Taichi and the Held they need to be proven with use. I expect them to perform well.
I think Biff wore something like this in Back to the Future 2. For better or worse you would get some looks on the street. I'm excited about them though. I'm sort of considering it.
I live in the UK and went to the bike show where Knox were showing the glove. I have actually learnt more from SBTG about these products than from the stand.
Although they may look different, They do feel very 'normal' in a good way
I agree on the feel. I can not wait to ride in these myself. The folks at KNOX are incredible. Geoff Travell is the man behind it all and I have to say I admire his dedication to protecting riders and producing the best products possible.
Having had the opportunity to wear the Handroid and considering all of the new technology it offers I would purchase a pair. KNOX has the reputation of high quality and solid performance with their products. I believe the hand armour will be more of the same. If the Handroid interests you I would buy a pair.
I have just ordered a pair of the RS Taichi Gp Evo gloves, and am very interested in the handroid when they do come out. Is there anyway to reserve a pair in advance. Please let me know. They look like they are going to be the way of the future. Great protecion.
That depends on what motivates you the most. If you are looking for the ultimate in protection then the Handroid is a solid choice. Comparing the two is hard. Alpinestars makes gloves, KNOX has developed armor for your hands. Similar in appearance, different by design. This new collection from KNOX is pretty exciting.

Wow. The Handroid is a replaceable exo-skeleton/ palm sliders away from basically being Sidi Vortices for your hands.
Awesome looking product. Will be going with these instead of the Held Phantom.
