@midnightmagicwitch Because its aesthetic is very different from that of any US city (it's the same reason why Americans tend to idealize European cities and towns in general). And because ever since we wiped out our natives, we have very few monuments that are older than 200 years old (and what we have tends to be fairly small in scale compared with what one can find in Europe, excluding skyscrapers, which don't really have that same 'classy'/'historical' allure). And because it is beautiful.
@umbrellashotgunman I can understand your annoyance though, but then again, the characters themselves are tourists, so they'll obviously be coming in with a certain type of view that's very different from someone who's actually used to the place. But hell, I live in the Midwest, and my family is from Taiwan (which culturally speaking is kind of a paltry version of China/Japan), so I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who comes from places that aren't idealized, if you catch my drift.
I know! It has more life and it's more happy. Not to mention that Audrey isn't dubbed this time, she was actually a good singer... Too bad her voice was too low. She had more energy and charm in her voice.

What a big fat cliché...
Americans idealize our capital too much.
It is beautiful, but who wants to go see the same stuff
every other tourist wants to see?
