I think BR use poly-chords when they record. Two guitars playing different but complimentary chords. I love the chord changes in BR songs but I'm getting on a bit now and I can barely remember what I had for breakfast. BR chord changes just don't stick.
Hey man...I just recently figured out this song by ear myself... One thing I do differently from you is the Intro/Bridge. Rather than going from powerchord D to powerchord C, I go barchord D to barchord D minor...I'll put a video of it up...try that though, I think you'll be happy with the sound.
No tabs my friend. I just sit back and start plugging along trying to find chords/notes that sound like the recordings and then grab my video camera before I forget. I also saw your comment on another video asking about the SG...it's a Standard Faded series...stock neck pickup and DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge. Thanks for watching.
Great vids. Brian Baker is probably the guitarist I'd most like to model myself after. Sadly I'm far too lazy to ever get that good. I'll just be happy if I can do the Ten in 2010 solo before I die.
You've pretty much mirrored my feelings exactly. Funny you should mention that song as I've planned on doing it, but I know I'm going to get requests for the solo...so I may need to clear out a couple days in my schedule after this semester ends so I can learn how to use my wah pedal properly, and then I'll start slowing down the song in Audacity to see if I can get anything close to what the recording is. Wish me luck!
My personal opinion seems rather obvious, Les Pauls or SGs, but that's just me. I also like Telecasters, and some people swear by Strats for anything. I'd like to get my hands on a late 70's era Les Paul as I would consider that the most ideal choice for me, but my disposable income at the moment wouldn't be able to give me many options. If you're looking for something, just try out as many brands/styles as you can and just go with what feels best.
It really depends. A lot of people will say any guitar, as any guitar sounds great for punk when you put a distortion pedal on it. When I play punk, I always stick with my Ibanez. Telecasters also sound great, as well as Les Pauls. Just try out some guitars, that is the best way to find your perfect match.
