Inside look at 11X - Infantry enlistment

I've served 5 years active with A co. 1-506th INF 101st. ABN in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm a highly decorated veteran who was also wounded. This occupation isn't for the weak. You'll work long hours and do a lot of stupid S#$@ but remember that it will end eventually. Don't go AWOL or do anything to jepordize your job such as drugs, or drink to much if you're of age. Your battle buddies are counting on you to do the right thing. Once you're in do everything to the best of your abilities.Good Luck

All you DICK's (Determined Infantry Combat Killers) listen up. Do what your told, listen to your DS. Take everything seriously and most of all suck up the pain. This isn't a joke this is combat reality. What you learn in Basic is only the basic foundation to being a infantryman. Once you get to your duty station learn what you can from others, because when you get down range each other is all you'll have.

Once you graduate as an infantrymen, you will be a certified cleaner aswell! 11C is the same as 11B except they have mortar training, but if they fail it they automatically become 11B

Just saying being an 11c is better than 11b depending on where you go. For instance If you get places like 10 mountain, 4th ID or any airbourne or any light brigade you are doing exactly what the bravos do but you carry a weapon that does more damage and shoots farther than a bravo. And in Afghan if your a Charlie that stays on the fob. You are a main priority to kill on the afghans list.

@beasley1987 its mainly blood and sweat for 3 months then you graduate and go to your unit. Unless you go onto Ranger school, airborne school, air assualt, or SF.

I just reserved a slot as 11X for MEPS which I do on Monday...One thing though, and if anyone has any info, that'd be great, but they said that the entire Army is booked up and the first available one is in February 2012...ANY way I can do it earlier than that? I don't want to wait 7 months...

11X is Infantry recruit basically. It's the trainee MOS.

@beasley1987 I think you need a highschool education for IF Infantryman. Indirect Fire Infantry use weapons such as mortars to support normal infantry, must undergo airborne and close combat training.
