  • Nice vid matt

  • pretty amazing lightning storm, thunderstorms are my favorite weather events :) I love the sound of thunder also. Too bad we don't have these storms that often here in CA.

  • Pause the video at 0:27 and turn your head 90 degrees counter clockwise, you'll see the lightning bolt and it look like the letter L!

  • im from new zealand but i dont live in wellinton. i live in papamoa

  • Classic work by weta workshops. Great cgi guys.

  • @totu78 Hahaha. Shot.

  • Mean song cuz

  • I dont think new plymouth gets thunder storms like that >.> well i geuss like atleast tornados but thats it

  • The storm was scary!

  • I love Thunderstorms

  • did anyone else notice at the start the lightning struck the same place like 3 times???

  • *scoots away from NZ* dont bring that over here!

  • i want to move there but my brother said that it has loads of thunder storms is that true or does it happen like 2 of something a week can you tell me please.

  • @sarah8898 Ahaha. No, this isn't true. I'd venture to say we rarely get thunderstorms at all. Not often, in any case. :)

  • thats not true.. at all. we only get them in winter i guess.. haha. :P

  • Thanks for the Music Info :-) hahah

  • Great footage. What is the music?

  • In the description

  • God I love a good thunder storm...wish Wellington got more than the few we do

  • Good to see your footage, I have added it as a favourite to the youtube channel for NZWeather(dot)net

  • at 0:16 you couldn't even see that this was night and dark outside =O

  • I remember that night! The thunder was pretty intense!

  • good stuff, dont really see much of this in england...., my family are wanting to move to lake taupo, where is the best place to move in new zealand from England?

  • The top 4 best places to live in New Zealand are Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Hawkes Bay. Lake Taupo is great too.

  • i think i wanna go to auckland or wellington, they look great, isnt wellington very windy and cold?

  • Yes wellington is always windy and can get really cold in the winter besides that Wellingtn is great.

  • You should really look at wellington dude!!!!!! only cause it the best place ever and also I was born in UK moved here when I was 18 months.

  • im 18 years old now, just wondering if i could make it on my own or not, + id need a job right away since id just have gotten out of college and not have much money, do the people of NZ like the english? i heard mixed things about NZ people hating english : /

  • Na da kiwis like them, maybe not in rugby but they do like them!! and to be fair both NZ & UK are as bad as eachother anyway!

  • haha yeah, its a bad time to be in the UK, cant wait to get out haha, are jobs easy to come by over there?

  • If u hve a job in UK yea it easy!! but if not then u will find it hard!! about 30% of young people 18-21 hve no jobs, but if u were older like 50 it much harder for them than younger people.

  • right so, do my college (english college) achievements mean nothing over there? or do you guys have A levels too? would i have to re-take my driving test too? thanks, this is helpful, getting an insight into life over there :)

  • Well not sure about the school thing, but what are A-levels? must be like our NCEA, the driving test no i don't think so as you would have to apply for a new zealand drivers licens, if you don't the pigs are after you lol (don't worry i am just having fun)

what about you try and ring over to new zealand because i am not sure about the school thing??

  • i mean college not school, we go to college ages 16-18, A levels are qualifications we get over here

  • Well call it High school, school. We start High school 13/14-17/18 (depending where you were born in that year?

  • we have primary school 5-11, high school 11-16, college 16-18, uni 18 onwards

  • Cool our Primary goes from 5-11, if intermedite is in the school then primary goes to 5-13, intermedite is 12-13, high school 14-18 also depends where your birthday falls

if you are born in January 1990 u start school in 1995 and finish in 2007 (7th form) but if you were born after April 1990 u finish in 2008.

  • its quite different over there then, you guys have warm christmas? we have a freezing one here, hoping for snow this time :P

  • Yep it summer here now =) so good now we can enjoy the weather!!

  • bloody nice day today :D

  • Yep, i just got bk from aucks! yea good day.

  • man, i just woke up and its the worst rain and wind we have had here all year, winter is officailly closing in..... :( we'll have icy roads and snow soon

  • Thats not good, when are you moving to new Zealand??

  • im not sure when im moving, i need to save up some money and get my visa's etc. dont think im an idiot here, but its bonfire night here, do you celebrate that too?

  • Yea we do expect it guy fawkes, and fireworks ae?

  • yeah man, same here, its dark at like 4:45 now, so we start the partys early haha

  • LOL yea bro, so you know when you are coming to NZ????? cause right now the weather is playing and it suppose to be summer!!!

  • @DANDAWEEMAN Taupo's good. Cold in winter. Small town really. Auckland - humid, rain pelts down but really, lots of sun :-) . Wellington, lot of wind and rain, but can't beat it on a good day. Lots of other POMS around too.

  • Matt great footage, extreme NZ weather captured powerfully :)

High voltage, violent, chaotic, severe, nature's own fury.

  • Neat footage Matt :)

We need some of this weather in Auckland!

  • i saw the lighting on the news a few days ago great video
