The traps nor the plants themselves are poisonous. The title of the video is incorrect. Pretty disappointing from the BBC.

It is perfectly safe to drink the "water" from these plants so long as it is from an UNOPENED trap (as the liquid inside is sterile at that point).

Obviously once the trap has been opened it attracts insects which form a decaying sludge down the bottom. No one wants to drink that.
