She never dates, for she is ageless. Sad that this girl is dead, very old or similar. It just shows how bad Easyjer & Ryanair are: cattle trucks with wings.
o.k i might be biased because my wife is s'porean loh, but yes Singapore airlines is still No.1 for me for flying international and still No.1 for inflight service, thanks for posting this 'classic' tv advert.
Unfortunately these scenes in Singapore are now a thing of the past. Most of the shophouses you see have been torn down, or "restored", though in restoration they have lost much of their original character. And street markets no longer exist in Singapore. The airport has also changed; the old airport terminal in the video still stands but is used by the air force and not accessible to the public. However, u can still find many such streets and markets in penang.
These scenes are great as they give me a look into my country's past. My mother's stories become clear as I see the taxi driving through the busy streets......Long Live Singapore, Long Live the Singapore Girl.....
Watching these videos bring back alot of memories. I recall two which left a deep impression: one was a commercial with NZ backdrop, a small NZ girl humming a very unique tune. The 2nd was in Phuket with the SQ girl picking up sea shells...both were very surreal. Has anyone seen clips of them? They should be pre date 1985.
Its a great clip, Greatsia. If you have, will you post a similar clip that starts from the scene singapore girl gets in a fancy car, and looking out from the window, camera shows the london city at night, lovers kissing, romantic mood, and back to the singapore girl,is smiling quietly. It was a beautiful clip along with a gentle man's voice and a guitar, and it ends with our favorite line, "Singapore girl, the best way to fly". Someone has posted it here before...I wonder if you have it...
"To the airport please, I want to make my dream come true. And today is the day." May be that I'll tell to the taxi driver when I'll fly for the first time.
I thought it was mid/late 70's, but then you can see UOB Tower 2 being built in the background. As this building opened in 1974, the ad was probably filmed in 1972 or 1973.
Great Airline.Flew with them on nearly every trip I have done to Singapore since my first visit there with the exception of two trips which were done with Qantas.
As fo SIA, if you've ever flown them you will know what everyone raves about. 35 yrs ago when they separated from MAS, the airline management must have known how important good service is in the industry, and that must have been their focus. SIA have since become the most awarded airline in the world, probably won more awards than all other airlines in the world combined, which is fairly similar to Changi Airport's achievements. The airline and airport are symbolic of that country's success
The airline management definitely knew that. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew told them that the Singaporean government is not one that can afford to subsidize a carrier, just for the sake of having a flag carrier.
Thanks for posting this clip. That ad shows some amazing and very rare footage of what Singapore used to look like during (probably) the mid 1970's. Recognised the Hilton Hotel on Orchard Road and lastly, arriving at the old Paya Lebar Airport. I am very interested in old footage of Singapore in the 1970's and would appreciate anyone direct me to where I can find it on the net.
singapore airlines is and will always be the worlds most profitable and most prefered airline to travel with. The Great service, the amazing Krisworld system, good food and most of all comfortable seats. So glad that SQ formed their own airline rather then sticking with crappy air malaysia

It's so nice to see a flight attendant take pride in herself. It's a shame that more flight attendants took take pride in their appearance

Dear All,
I have some questions about sociology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) From this airline TV advertisement in 1970, what was the global social values at that time?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
