I have an Acer extensa 5630ez , would'nt turn on for ages after being switched of . I looked on Fixya.com , then with my heart in my mouth removed the R138 resistor from the top side of the mobo, now it turns on instantly and I saved myself a fortune because ,yes you have guessed it , it was out of warranty. Spread the word.
did you get this problem after you opened it or before?
I had same problem and noticed i was missing screws and remembered hearing a noise while moving the laptop. So i checked the fans and it turned out to be a screw stuck on the fan. Took it out of the way and turned on just fine.
If it's new yu can bring it back or go to bestbuy if yu live in the US and ask wats the prob and they will tell yu and if yu want them to fix it they will but maybe it's gonna cost yu 300 bucks or if yu have a contract with were yu bought it yu can get a new one, just ask before yu maybe throw it away.
Same problem here with my HP laptop today. It's about 3-4 years old and has been great until today. I'm sure the HD is fine but I'm not sure how to transfer to a new laptop since I'm expecting that's my next step. :(

@gingerbread185 yes i solved it, i took it to computer service. they changed the fan and now it works as new. i payed like 150$

Take out batterry and unplug charger an hold power for 30 seconds then plug back in charger and put battery in then turn on

Did you manage to get this fixed? I've got the exact same problem. I'm guessing the Hard drive is bust.
