When my mother was 8 years old living in Hawaii, there was a TV show called 50th State Big Time Wrestling. She watched it every time it was on. One day, my grandma forgot to pick up my mom from school. So, my mom took the bus to her house and sitting next to her was Don Muraco! One of her favorite wrestlers sitting right there! She got an autograph from him but she lost the autograph years ago. A really great story that I find very cool!
Some one mention someone that should be in the hall of fame that wrestled everyone ....DON SERRANO alive and well in Houston TX.44 years in the biz....Nuff said dont ya think he deserves his spot in the hall ? I say HellYes!!!

I was 9 years old in 1981 and a huge, huge wrestling fan. I was a big mark for the faces, but Muraco was one of the few bad guys that I really liked. He was a great, fabulous wrestler. I often thought he would be the one to beat Backlund. I was fortunate enough to see him at MSG on many occasions, against Backlund, Morales, etc. I'll never forget the steel cage match against Snuka. My father took me to a restaurant in Brooklyn that was showing the match. Great times!
there was a heavy contingent of then-future/later-4mer ecw/wwe stars & such in the crowds during those late-70s/early-80s wwf garden shows...foley,dreamer,bubba/brother/bully ray (dudley)r among the more well-known/outspoken of them when reminiscing of them...
@Mase379 harsh but true. when i think of muraco it has nothing to do with foley. i would pay money to see muraco fight. i would not pay money to see foley in a match. i think someone else should have indnucted him. snuka or backlund. for example. one of the old wwwf'ers at least
In the early 80's Muraco was as big a star as the WWF had. He was one of the guys responsible for wresting's growth. Anyone who watched during that period will tell you how great Muraco was. He was a great wrestler and great on the mic and could really tell a story and his feuds with Pedro Morales, Tito Santana, Ricky Steamboat, etc' are legendary. He was also great in the NWA before that. A very deserving HOFer.
Don Muraco was one of the greatest heels of all-time. It's a shame that he doesn't get as much credit as some other guys. He was right up there with Piper, Flair, or any of them. Muraco was as good as they came and belongs in the Hall of Fame.
@danteras23 I thought Muraco was actually better than Piper because of his consistency. Muraco did it all and few if any were better on the mic than he.
@TeslaDRay One move that wowed me. Was when his opponent was sitting on the floor. Then he went behind him, placed his hands on his opponents' head and flipped over him. Sort of a situp movement of his opponent.
Yeah, you have to say something about that, those veins just busting out of his huge shoulders and arms were freaky. One of those I'd definitely love to see in his prime taking on later stars like HHH, Austin, even Cena or Batista--dream matches. Beach Bum!
holy shit don muraco isnt dead? i thought because of his awesome size he'd be dead for steroid abuse but I guess he got outta the business at just the right time.
Don Morocco is probably the most under rated pro-wrestler of all time! His promos,in ring ability and mic skills were awesome! He was a grade "A" heel for a long ass time, but was equally popular as a good guy towards the end with the WWF. The IC title may have gone extinct without this guy and he was a relevant player in the game for a very long time. He was also a power house and it upset me when he lost to Dino Bravo. Any one have the match where he beat some guy while eating a sandwich??

Why did Foley take so much of Muraco's time? No one gives a shit about you jumping off of your house.

he was pretty agile too in his later years, late 80s. dropkicks, rolling somersaults. amazing for a big guy.

If this had happened a few years later, the fans would've booed Foley's self-serving speech of the stage.

Muraco now looks a lot like William Shattner now. Except that Muraco would stomp Shattner into the dirt.

Don Muraco, the man in touch with the dark side. Loved that line. He had such an incredible vein around his shoulder.
