Who was he up against, notable losers such as Biaggi, Gibernau, Roberts Jnr, Barros, Capirossi, Edwards, Hopkins... The list goes on. And while he was racing these guys he needed the best equipment to beat them, overnight tyres from michelin ring any bells. Ever since riders with ability turned up, such as Pedrosa, Stoner and Lorenzo, the wins started disappering for Rossi.

Totally agree. I'm a huge fan of both Casey and Valentino, but Rossi is a living legend. Casey is simply fucking amazing, but not quite a legend yet, give him a few years. I think Ducati will eventually get it right, Valentino is still capable of winning a championship. So is Jorge, and potentially Ben. It's a golden age of talent. Can't wait for next year's title fight.

(And plenty of wins after Vale broke his leg) Lorenzo was incredibly strong anyway last year even if Rossi didn't break his leg I still think Lorenzo would have had an equal chance of winning it mate. The Honda this year was the best bike around, ask anyone in the paddock, and Lorenzo beat them 3 times. Anyway, Rossi will be back sometime soon

Stoner is winning races and Rossi is the history. How many races did Rossi win this year? Sure Vale has a great record and he's been a great rider but he cant get near Stoner. Some time you have to drag yourself out of the past and into the present.

Since going head to head Stoner has won two championships and Rossi has won two. Stoner has 33 wins, 34 poles and 59 podiums. Rossi has 26 wins, 19 poles and 59 podiums. And all that includes the year Stoner did on the LCR Honda. Take 2006 out (when Stoner didn't have a factory bike) and the flogging he has dished out to Rossi only gets greater. Stoner >> Rossi.

While they have both taken two championships each, stoner has won far more races. And I am a huge fan of rossi's, I think he is the most amazing and charismatic rider of our generation, and hope to see him back at his best with the rest of the 'aliens' but to be honest I have lost a little respect for him

@sankalp4you Yeah Rossi could well have won the title in 2010, however Jorge Lorenzo deserved it, won races fair and square before Rossi broke his leg. (And plenty of wins after Vale broke his leg) Lorenzo was incredibly strong anyway last year even if Rossi didn't break his leg I still think Lorenzo would have had an equal chance of winning it mate. The Honda this year was the best bike around, ask anyone in the paddock, and Lorenzo beat them 3 times. Anyway, Rossi will be back sometime soon
