Proof positive that weight will always have an effect on performance. Had the Mustang and Integra been the same weight, I guarantee that the outcome would have been vastly different.
For anyone doubting this - the Integra weighs in around 2700 lbs. The Mustang weighs in at 3300 lbs. That's a 600 lb difference, which accounts for a LOT less work that little 1.8L engine has to move around.
It'd be like dragging my 4,000-lb Dakota R/T against that Mustang. Even if I cranked up the output to 500 hp pumping out of that 5.9L V8, there's still 700 lbs of weight difference between the two.

its actually weight and the power curve. Since if the tq curve was between 5-10hp, the car wouldnt do anything, but you could still have large amounts of "crank tq" since hp is the ability to do work, wt and hp are what matters. Hense the hp/wt ratio arguement. hp determines how fast an object can accelerate, not just at a certain speed (i.e. higher speeds). If a car accelerates faster, its because it produced more hp, not more "tq"....
u dont know what ur talking about. Hp is how much tq u have a a specific rpm. ex. 100tq@1000rpms is the same as 50tq@2000rpms. simply because of gearing. Both produce the same hp cuase the higher rpm motor can use 2:1 gear, by matching the rpm output (both at 1000 for ex.). thus doubling the tq output to match both cars. The only force moving a car is tq. BUt hp tells you how much tq at a velocity is avaliable. 300hp is always better than 200 etc..physics dept? i think not. stick with pre alg.

Hp works 100% of the time. not just "at higher speeds", so listen here. reducing the revs by 2, increases the tq by 2. hence why 100tq@1000rpms= 50tq@2000revs. there is no such think as tq starts and then hp takes over.. If you had a perfectly flat tq line. then peak hp would be at highest rpm at which that tq was still made. power is tqxrpm... to maximize the surface area of that plane involves 2 factors. reducing the tq but compensating in rpm would still lead to higher hp without a peak tq number...most high reving motors have that characteristic

I was lied to when I bought it about it having 487. It was more around 340 at the wheels. The car next year will have forged internals since one of the pistons let go in it.

The Honda Civic Mugen RR makes 260 hp out of only 2.0 LITERS, "WITH NO TURBO". The 2011 Mustang needs 3.7 Liters to make only 300 hp. Am I the only one that notices that you couldn't hear the mustang at all? And sorry but a nearly 500hp mustang would be running something other than stock wheels and tires. It would most definately have a set of slicks on it on some drag rims for sure. Honestly I think this was a turbo type R vs a lightly modded GT. Granted the Type R is lighter but it wouldn't have left the stang that fast if it had what the description claims. I am smelling some bullshit here lol.

Proof positive that weight will always have an effect on performance. Had the Mustang and Integra been the same weight, I guarantee that the outcome would have been vastly different.

For anyone doubting this - the Integra weighs in around 2700 lbs. The Mustang weighs in at 3300 lbs. That's a 600 lb difference, which accounts for a LOT less work that little 1.8L engine has to move around.
It'd be like dragging my 4,000-lb Dakota R/T against that Mustang. Even if I cranked up the output to 500 hp pumping out of that 5.9L V8, there's still 700 lbs of weight difference between the two.
Power to weight is always a factor. Need more proof? Race the Integra against an Ariel Atom!

What you SHOULD compare in drags is weight ratio and the torque curve....
Having more horse power enables you to be faster when at higher speeds... But a light car is faster on 0 - 100 acceleration
Have in mind that American cars are build for drag strips and Jap cars for cornering
Still Japs showed that they can hit records with cars like the Supra some GTR R33/34
Think is that GTR R34 is also very good at cornering
Why you just don't accept that there are better cars than Americans....

its actually weight and the power curve. Since if the tq curve was between 5-10hp, the car wouldnt do anything, but you could still have large amounts of "crank tq" since hp is the ability to do work, wt and hp are what matters. Hense the hp/wt ratio arguement. hp determines how fast an object can accelerate, not just at a certain speed (i.e. higher speeds). If a car accelerates faster, its because it produced more hp, not more "tq"....

u dont know what ur talking about. Hp is how much tq u have a a specific rpm. ex. 100tq@1000rpms is the same as 50tq@2000rpms. simply because of gearing. Both produce the same hp cuase the higher rpm motor can use 2:1 gear, by matching the rpm output (both at 1000 for ex.). thus doubling the tq output to match both cars. The only force moving a car is tq. BUt hp tells you how much tq at a velocity is avaliable. 300hp is always better than 200 etc..physics dept? i think not. stick with pre alg.

you work in the dept. Make that clear. TQ is not based on acceleration. its a force. Hp is how much energy is being put INTO the system. watts is the same as hp, just different units. Hp works 100% of the time. not just "at higher speeds", so listen here. reducing the revs by 2, increases the tq by 2. hence why 100tq@1000rpms= 50tq@2000revs. there is no such think as tq starts and then hp takes over.. Im an engineer and you sound fucking retarded... keep studying

at 1 instant in time, it is mass and hp... over time its hp curve vs weight... your agreeing with me. If you had a perfectly flat tq line. then peak hp would be at highest rpm at which that tq was still made. power is tqxrpm... to maximize the surface area of that plane involves 2 factors. reducing the tq but compensating in rpm would still lead to higher hp without a peak tq number...most high reving motors have that characteristic

Let me clarify some of this confusion. I own that Mustang.
I was lied to when I bought it about it having 487. It was more around 340 at the wheels. The car next year will have forged internals since one of the pistons let go in it.
So flame all you want for a mustang losing to a 4-cyl, doesn't matter to me. If you look at my other videos, you'll see the car went 12.93 so by no means is it slow.
