  • this is so good it brought tears to my eyes.

  • Großartige Musik. Anscheinend gibt es hier nur native English speakers außer mir.

  • @Kevin3307

    Da irren Sie sich.

  • Gud song ! Spent a full year there ! Still miss it so ! Okinawa City, Naha and of course Kinville ! An old navy corpsman....

  • Try his 1989 cd 'Get rhythm'. Title track is what turned me on to him

  • I love what he did with the Rolling Stones but I have a hard time getting into his solo stuff. Maybe someday I'll be able to feel it. Sometimes it's just not the right time for certain things for me. What record would you recommend for a classic rock and blues guy 26 years old?

  • @MrJohntube12 Where to begin? I'm a Floyd/Zep/Neil Young freak, but no one does it like Ry Cooder! I'd say if you dig his work w the Stones start w the record that turned them on to him... Boomer's Story!! Amazing album. If you want a master class in slide guitar get either the sound track to 'Paris, Texas' or the masterpiece 'A Meeting by The River' w M.V. Bhatt. Those 2 records taught me to play slide. Then venture into 'Chicken Skin Music' and 'Paradise and Lunch'. Check the song One Meatball

  • Ry Cooder and the Chieftains,,,,,brilliant.

  • I´m 22 years old and i fuckin´love Ry :D

  • @TheEnno64 noone gives a rats ass how old you are. age has nothing to do with enjoying Ry`s music.

ps - im 22 also. and love Ry. lol

  • これからも、なかよくしてください

    I love USA

    By 琉球 Okinawa

  • Really Love it !!!

    Dick

  • Coulda sworn that this was Levon Helm the first time I heard it.

  • @harvey1954 This would be the perfect song for them to team up on.

  • @SwampDaddy7 Agreed. Be nice if Ry and the Band did it together.

  • @harvey1954 I know, right? I always wondered what it would have been like if Ry joined the Band instead of Robbie Robertson.

  • @SwampDaddy7 Well, Ry is a great musician, singer and arranger, but Robbie was a musician, arranger, and super songwriter, but a mediochre singer, so... The Band did okay without Ry, but maybe after Robbie left, Ry could have helped them keep on going...Withour Richard Manuel, the Band could not last long.

  • @Flametamer9 True, Richard Manuel was a big part of that band. Personally I think bigger than Robbie, but it's something to wonder about. Would Richard still be here if Ry filled in the roll for Robertson?

  • @SwampDaddy7 Well, back then, Ry was not a lyracist, and without Robbie's lyrics, there would have been no, "The Band", would there?

  • @Flametamer9 There'd still be The Band, they'd probably just be better interpreters of others' songs.

  • Oh God!! I almost forget how good was and is Ryland. Thanks for posting.

  • Mercy--I love this guy, love this song, love this live version. Why Ry Cooder music isn't being played all over the radio is beyond me. He's not only incredibly talented, but everything he does is so unique. Nothing ever sounds the same. Thanks for posting. Wow--this song makes me happy :-)

  • what a genius! I love him!

  • Wow. My respect for Ry keeps growing. Been listening to him for years and he never fails to amaze and thrill. Each new find is like discovering him over again. Great song. What a wonderful, under appreciated artist.

  • so glad I subscribed :-)

  • mention should also be made of the Chieftains performance support

  • for those who haven't seen it yet- don't miss Ry Cooder buena vista social club - that documentary show, the music and musicians and Ry- are priceless.

  • Paul McCartney's keyboardist/handyman Paul Wickens is in the background on accordion

  • What a find for sure - enjoying Ry though late - and this song is special - spent over four years there - 67-69 and 78-81...great times....

  • @ranfranthompson Best tacos I ever had were @ a little place in Kin-ville, down the hill in old town. Awesome.

  • @pickinpedaler CHARLIE'S TACOS!!!!!!!!!! Greatest tacos in the WORLD!

  • @snowdragonfire TRULY the greatest! Made my rotation in 1st Tracks do-able!

  • I saw Ry Cooder in 1979 in perth at the concert hall I was in awe never forgotten him ever since hands like lightining and talked liked you were he's best friend

  • Be sure and catch his version of "Good Night Irene". This fella is one of the most interesting, fun to listen to musicians, with talent and skill, that I've run across in the last 40 years.,

  • What an inventive and lyrically flowing guitar solo from Ryland. Just shows how one can approach a 3 chord progression. I used to have the whole performance on video and i'm so grateful to see this again! Many thanks.

  • Great live performance. Definitely captures the uchinanchu spirit. "Goin' back to Okinawa. Sorry that I can't take you."

  • Ry Cooder is truly eclectic.

  • see if you dont know a lot about music. listen to ry. he will tell you everything that you need to know

  • stellar collaboration
