@ktyree1 Good luck....we do need to bring real music back...i mean these kids have taking over and they put out crap...NY radios sucks...if it weren't for internet we'd be screwed
larry was the greatest by far i learned a lot by hanging out wit him to this day no one has come close to bringing it but me lol rip larry youe smile will never die
"Ten Percent" was the first commercial 12" single, but I have the first 12" made, Moment of Truth's "So Much for Love" promo and I probably won't ever let it go. The instrumental mix Moulton made is I think the best dance track ever.
The amusing bit is of course that the 'DJ' concept is an import from 1960's Germany,
The story of the start of 'DJ' ing is amusing, in that it started with a drunk (well he'd been drinking) German journalist reporting on 'dance club' and being appalled by the boring way the music was introduced and spontaenously taking over
Really not a great job on the music for this documentary, because it's mainly house that came out and was heavily influenced by music of the Garage era that preceeed it by years and years.
@ElAlexxis Some of don't see the connect based on their wording in this film. I'm grateful they made this but again I'll say the quality control and accuracy left something to be desired and improved upon the next time someone makes a related flim about NYC's place as the international center of dance musics then, that to a large extent still applies to today's most prominent musics played on American radio.
NYC in general and Boyd in parituclar are considered by many to be the originators of house, that was later copied in Chicago. In the early 80s most of the records in Chicago were from NYC or Europe.
love the song but forgot the name of it, you could hear it every now and then on 98.7 kiss fm at 12am-5pm on Saturday nights, Reuben Toro is the DJ, he plays the old classic joints and then wines down to house music aka, baby powder music.
Whats that song at 6:40 ???????
