Ok not just me then. I even have issues cracking the local repeater where there is also a 2m and 70cm in the same location that I can hit no problem. I guess conditions haven't been ideal of late. I'm still waiting on the promise of the so called 'magic band' .
Yup Ive got HF at home, but I rarely get on the radios when im home.. Not to take away from it but sitting home playing on the radios gets boring quickly for me.. Id much rather be out adventuring with them haha :D
The pictures of the untouched trails are beautiful Andrew. Thanks for posting. I hope to do some 2 meter sideband hilltop work in the springtime so hopefully we can make a radio contact then. Best 73 from Tim - KB2RMC
@UnkleJustin Looking forward to finding you on the air =) I plan to be out in full force this year and hopefully ill be doing a few mountains a month especially in the spring when things warm up.
The trail was pretty nice. it was a 2.7 mile each way and i've found snow shoeing only makes that much harder. My body was still sore this morning 2 days later haha.
Works great actually! it was about 15 degree's on the peak, and it boiled the 2 cups of water for my freeze dried food in about 3 min give or take. its now a permanent part of my backpacking gear.. nothing like a hot meal wherever you are. well worth it
have you made any 6M contacts on the Vx8 with the stock antenna ?

@DENMONKEY
Nope, I think the HT is a little lacking for 6m use.. Plus Ive never heard anyone on 6m fm aside from repeaters.
