Truely Enjoyable Video! as a suggestion try hooking the string with three fingers ( pointer, middle , ring) knock of arrow placed between pointer finger and middle finger. With arm totally extended you should be able to draw back to corner of mouth touching nail of middle finger. Have fun!

Nice way of spending time in a beautiful day and place! As for the bow, you could work a little more at making one. :) A homemade simple wooden bow, made from a branch, can shoot over 200 m :)

Hey, it was worth a try.. Use smaller sticks and band them all together and you can get a very hard hitting home made bow.. You said you have fiberglass bows now... If you guys ever want to step it up to real traditional archery, Samick Sage makes a recurve bow that is very nice for 120$.. Glad you got some bows... Keep shooting!

@joec123able Um, yeh pretty much. It's all about how tight the tension on the string is. Cavemen did it. Also, we had proper arrows, they probably added to the far flight.

@JillyMacVideos hey look up "flu-flu "arrows (its the fletching) get a single feather and sort of fold it around for fletching gluing as u go. the arrow will go a certain distance then float back down and stick into the ground every single time-so u dont lose it. (its for bird shooting ) but its fun to watch it. if u shot a regular arrow hard in the air probably never find it

@JillyMacVideos Cavemen did better, replica prehistoric bows can shoot out to about 600ft with such a high aim. That's because these were bows, while what you two have is a stick. It's not only about string tension, the most important is to taper the limbs properly so that you can actually draw the bow without the handle breaking.

@joec123able Admittedly I'm a bit late on this. They seem to be only doing very short draws on these bows. Not gonna get much range like that. My guess is they're trying to avoid breaking them since they don't appear to be properly tillered. They do shoot without breaking though, so that's something. (especially for early attempts)
