I want to learn this too, but my fingers ALWAYS get sore prompting me to break from playing, and I've started on electric back in 1984. There's nothing bad about live or studio versions because the song is KICK ARSE no matter how you slice it
i hate to disagree but the studio version rocks far more than the live version. It has much more in phrasing and his feel when he plays comes from the heart.
i notice your doing the live version, is there any possiblity of doing the rest of the solo because i love this song so much and i learnt all the bits youve shown already and i really wanna learn it all. thanks
I haven't tabbed this out, and did take a while listening over and over to get right. I would recommend you go through this vid writing down the positions first, then play through in short phrases before putting them together. Some of the feel is tricky to get down which you can only get by listening and playing until you know it inside out. Good luck....
its a great vid but a bit of advise would be michael doesn't use his litle finger. ( now and again he might) try and use your first three fingers to get the same feeling.
I'm glad you like the vid, but I have to say I consider that bad advice. Feeling comes from within, use which ever fingers come natural to you to achieve the desired result. Most of the time the artists original fingering will of course be a good starting point. But to hinder someone by removing the use of a finger makes no sense. Should I put plastic tips on my fingers for Sabbath songs, only play with two finger for Django songs? It's what it sounds like that matters, not how you play it.
Totally agree with that, I don't recall a time when I've studied the fingers that artists use for solos and anyway, all covers are personal interpretations, played with the feeling, and in the way, that you want to play it. Nicely played.
Heck, I use my toes! Just kidding. I saw this concert at the Amp in Chi town. I was still a teenager, barely. Good show but bad sound. Off the board was decent but live sucked. Great group!!!!
@peaceonearth777 Herr Schenker once quipped in the guitar press that he was learning to play with his feet...but someone already kicks his ass at it! hahaha. And of course, Jeff Healey played guitar blind
awesome!! the whole reason I got into guitar was this song and I've got all of it down except for the solo's! I'll keep practicing with these vids, thanks!
