They obviously don't think it would be a smart investment or they would have done it already. How many people do you know that own a mac and not a pc that would get a zune instead of an ipod? They are not giving the competition more business, people are not going to buy a Mac now their Zune works on it. It would have quite the opposite effect actually, it would give Microsoft greater market penetration. Apple have no control over any of the programs that are made for OSX and therefore would not have any say whether Microsoft can release a client or not.
I think this is why I am going to get a Zune HD over a iPod Touch. I buy Mp3 players for music. I dont want cute and cuddly games with cute and cuddly commercials. I want a device that runs clean and smooth. Zune Pass is a great way to get new music and the quality of the screen will be great for movies. Also, Zune HD has way more customizable options like free engravings and colors.
If you want great sound quality, you should go for the Walkman X Series, hands down. To me, the Zune HD is in between the iPod Touch, and the Walkman X. A good mix if you want the best of both worlds.

Actually I'm not buying an MP3 player for the apps, I own a PC which is what the Zune works with, Tests have shown that there is little to no sound quality difference between the touch and the Zune. And the screen size difference is .2 inches. Besides I'd rather be unique and own a Zune rather than an iPod touch because like everyone has an iPod around me.

That depends on alot of things. An Ipod Touch is a jack of all trades device. It plays video, surfs the internet, etc. Where as the Zune HD is far more focused on Music and Media playing. The Ipod Touch has alot more apps so if you're looking for a more fun device that's another for the Touch. But, if Media is your only real concern and you just want to listen to music the Zune HD is a better choice. Finally, zunes are more durably built. So if you drop it you have less chance of breaking it.

Why are you so unhappy about admitting that you are excited about the Zune HD? Maybe you should base your valuation of electronic devices (and everything in general) on more substantive things than simply the brand. It seems kind of superficial to do otherwise.

internet explorer (6, or older), for desktop browser usage is not good at all, i agree. but the new windows mobile version of internet explorer is very well done, and with the zune hd's skin of it being utilized, it will be very, very cool.

Why are you so unhappy about admitting that you are excited about the Zune HD? Maybe you should base your valuation of electronic devices (and everything in general) on more substantive things than simply the brand. It seems kind of superficial to do otherwise.
And does it really make sense to offer a Mac client? Why spend time and money developing software for a consumer who (as you yourself have demonstrated) cares about little other than Apple branding?

It may not be officially called the 3g by apple, but it doesnt change the fact that it will be the third gen ipod touch and therefore, the 3g.

then the iphone 2g is the iphone 1g as it is the first generation and the iphone 3g is the iphone 2g (2nd generation) and the iphone 3gs is the iphone 3g (3rd generation). confusing right? hence why it wont be referred to as the ipod touch 3g, it's confusing. It'll be referred to as the 3rd generation ipod touch

Why would MS worry about getting a
MAC client? They own over 80% of the OS market, and apple owns that in the mp3 player market..so in other words..apple needs itunes to work with windows more than MS needs the zune to work with OS X by a long shot..and with the windows 7 launch..it looks like a good end of the year for m$

internet explorer (6, or older), for desktop browser usage is not good at all, i agree. but the new windows mobile version of internet explorer is very well done, and with the zune hd's skin of it being utilized, it will be very, very cool.

I have a Zune and i love it.
Im looking forward to the new Zune HD
The best thing about it is Nvidia Tegra chip, that means games can be more graphically intensive.
Hopefully it will use XNA for games like the original zune did. If that is true there will be a ton of games for it. Im wanting some emulators myself.
